Adam Fantilli Or Wyatt Johnston?

Which young centre would you rather have?

I have a feeling next year, this poll will be a lot more interesting/closer.

Especially if CBJ can get another top 6 player and Fantilli can improve his face offs. But right now, Dallas depth and team chemistry is just too good; probably why they are in the playoffs and CBJ has a 1st year coach and GM & coming out of a 4 year rebuild.

Gotta consider Wyatt Johnston's been brought along very quickly in a winning environment playing huge games. That has a real impact to a young player where he's not going to be spending years in the wilderness trying to get into the playoffs, and then how to win in the playoffs.

What is his excuse playing for Canada against France or Austria (Hockey, not Soccer) and looking like nothing special at all?

I think Fantilli has higher upside so i'm taking him.

Johnston has scored some big goals, that clutch-gene is visible.

He has been struggling in a playoffs this year tho.

I have to say I have watched much more Johnston's games.

Love both players, would kill for either on my team.

But Wyatt at this point has proven he can handle big pressure games, and is as clutch as they come.

That could change when Adam and company start playing in big games. But for now, Wyatt has my vote.

Fantili is just getting started. His progression over the year was steep. He looks like he has 50 goal upside.

The poll question could have been will Fantilli catch up to Wyatt Johnston? Johnston figures to get better too, though he was better a year ago in the playoffs than he is this year. That one factor has me leaning Fantilli.

Fantilli but admittedly there is quite a bit of projection going on there.
I can see that but for me it's a pickem, too close to call.

That being said looking at Wyatt's stats if his initials were AM this thread would be closed already.

The inconsistency runs rampant like usual.

Wyatt. Because his name sounds like a cowboy or frontier lawman something.

But also, i think he's got more versatility in his game. Fantilli has the potential to be better, but i think he's also one of those weird "goal scoring centers" who plays a lot in straight lines, that tend to be kind of odd fits to find the perfect linemates for as wingers. If Fantilli does find the right playmaking winger, he could absolutely take off. But it's tricky to find that right chemistry.

That's where the Monahan addition has had a nice benefit along with his own on ice play. He's been trying to tell Fantilli to slow down and let the game come to him more. It's definitely been a work in progress and I wouldn't be surprised if it still takes a couple years before we get the best of Fantilli but it's definitely moving the right direction.

Before the Monahan injury in the middle of the season Fantilli played 40 games and had 7 goals 9 assists. After the injury and he got time with Marchenko on the 1st line he played 42 games with 24 goals and 14 assists.

He's also got Olivier in his other ear telling him he's bigger than he thinks he is and trying to bring that side out too which was also great to hear
