FKA Roo Returns...Still A Contrarian Apparently
Sjo was very good in his brief time with the Rangers but had a much higher pedigree being a first round pick. The Coyotes expected more goal scoring a la Grabner.Or Fredrik Sjöström

This kid is a player. Smart/Size/Wheels.
How many mistakes has he made? Not many. Always seems to make the smart play.
It's easy to forget because it feels like he was a prospect forever. @Ola and @nyr2k2 always had really high praise for Ed when he was in Sweden.Everyone splooging over the Rempe goal seems to ignore that Edstrom basically did the lords work to set him up.
Theres more offense there than we've seen.
Rempe stole the puck in the D zone started skating it up, passed to Ed, Ed took the puck passed to himself off the boards, threw it nicely over to Rempe who was steaming toward the net, Rempe took the pass stickhandled and then roofed it off the backhand at speed... It was a very nice play by both of them. Not giving Ed his due is as bad as trying to say Rempe wasn't the one who did the most work on this goal...Everyone splooging over the Rempe goal seems to ignore that Edstrom basically did the lords work to set him up.

Carrick stole the puck and then passed it to Rempe who passed the puck to Edstrom who then proceeded to take a dump on both Ottawa defenders.
The tuck was nice because it wasn't a gimmie but the lions share of the work done there was by Edstrom.
Each player did two great things on that goal.Rempe stole the puck in the D zone started skating it up, passed to Ed, Ed took the puck passed to himself off the boards, threw it nicely over to Rempe who was steaming toward the net, Rempe took the pass stickhandled and then roofed it off the backhand at speed... I'm going to have to look again, but I could swear Rempe was patrolling the slot in the NYR zone, Carrick was pressuring, Sens player threw it out front and Rempe was there. It was a very nice play by Ed, but even if Rempe didn't intercept it, he did the lion's share. Started the play up ice in the D zone, and made the play at full speed and skilled finish in the O zone. I think it's wild that some people have to try to minimize anything Rempe does.Carrick stole the puck and then passed it to Rempe who passed the puck to Edstrom who then proceeded to take a dump on both Ottawa defenders.

absolutely. Not sure why Rempe's role in the goal has to be minimized...Each player did two great things on that goal.
I really enjoyed watching Edstrom develop in Sweden. He played all over the lineup and was successful wherever he played. If you put him on the first or second line he wasn't going to rack up points, but his forechecking always proved problematic for the other team and opened up space for his linemates. Yet he had the good skating and decent mitts so he wasn't a black hole. And while he's not a bruiser, he'll take the body when the opportunity presents, like we saw last night. It's easy to forget because it feels like he was a prospect forever. @Ola and @nyr2k2 always had really high praise for Ed when he was in Sweden.
I remember the book on him was that he'd take some time to adjust to whatever level he was playing at, but once he did he'd blow through his expectations. IMO it feels like that best-case-scenario 3rd line upside is still there.
You left out the finish... weird. While acknowledging two objective facts (1) Rempe is not good at ice hockey & 2) It was a very sweet goal so credit to him for scoring it) one player assuredly did most of the work on the goal. I'll leave it to the tape to figure that one out...

I didn't think it was necessary since I prefaced the post very clearly with "It was a very sweet goal so credit to him for scoring".You left out the finish... weird.
Not sure why that gives anyone the need to diminish the play, I feel no need to diminish any of our players.I didn't think it was necessary since I prefaced the post very clearly with "It was a very sweet goal so credit to him for scoring".
No one would feel the need to diminish the good things he might do if the fan club didn't glaze him for every positive thing that happens to the team.
I just watched the play again. I think you're right in that a Sens player threw it out of the scrum and into the slot, where Rempe was to pick it up. It seemed Carrick rimmed it towards the back of the net, but then MSG switches cameras, and the next thing I see is the puck squirting out while Carrick was turning with his back to the play.I'm going to have to look again, but I could swear Rempe was patrolling the slot in the NYR zone, Carrick was pressuring, Sens player threw it out front and Rempe was there. The replay here shows it clearly. A sens player threw it out to the slot where Rempe was waiting.I just watched the play again. Similar size and build playing a similar game, nothing wrong with that comparison. This might be tallist of me but I've always said Brian Boyle.
He's very sound, should be good on the PK, can play anywhere, probably has 15-15 offense, and while he's not a nut, he'll step in if something goes down.
