What would the + be, and would Hamhuis waive for WSH?

A pound of whatever you're smoking if you think that's close in value. This is the same Dan Hamhuis who just won gold on team Canada. He's less likely to be traded than Carlson or Alzner.

Right...thats the question. For me that means, if he is moved it better not be for something not on your list...if that makes sense. 52 being the exception....he should go. Other than him, from that list I would discuss deals with Alzner, but they would be much bigger deals....maybe even involving goalies. What would people think if they come out of this with Luongo?

Alzner for Luongo is the stuff nightmares are made of.

McKenzie says people around Kesler during Sochi are also saying Kesler was telling people he wanted to be traded during the Olympics.

no, i would never do that.....but i would listen if Alzner was discussed in a big trade that involved, say...52, a goalie and something for Luongo, Kesler, D...but again, I probably would not do it as Alzner is too good and I expect will be much better when he hits prime

Why would the Caps possibly want to trade for Luongo? Are you forgetting how epically bad his contract is?

I think if we're talking about trading with Vancouver its going to be Elder. Van actually has a surplus of LHD which IMO is the position that should be addressed before anything else.

I will take the under on trades.

One, for Corvo or similarly skilled RHD.

I think George is going to be gun shy after Erat and still even little old MP.

Only 30 points in his last 51.

He is quickly running out of assets to petal. And he has no cap room to take salary moving out prospects, since no one wants his salary dumps.

We kicked the tires and ....

Every time I see Edler mentioned on the main boards, it seems like half the Canucks fans love him and would only trade him for something huge, while the other half just wants him gone. Going by the numbers, it looks like Edler's been really unlucky this year. He has a PDO of 960, which is even worse than Ovie's, so it might be a good time to buy low. Not too long ago one of them proposed Green for Edler, straight up, and IIRC there were others who agreed. Dunno if that's realistic, but I'd take that and then look for a RHD to replace Green (Brouwer for Petry maybe?).

I'll say under. I think there's probably an appetite to do more than that but I'm skeptical that even a pressured McPhee will be willing to move some of "his guys" likely for less than what he thinks they're worth. That's the biggest barrier to them doing a lot IMO. He's put himself in a bind by believing in a lot of mediocrity. I think he doubles down on the vast majority of it.

Moving Erat out for a fringe top 4 LD makes sense at least but beyond that I don't know that there's either a willingness to be reality-based about the current roster nor a vision to go ahead and address some pending issues down the road (like clearing out a larger role for Wilson). McPhee is dug in with this bunch IMO and I think he's largely willing to go down with it. Again, I think Erat is something he's willing to admit was a mistake--already done in words if not in action-- but I don't know how much he's ready to admit the rest is pretty damned flawed. Even if it's maybe the last chance to change it up that's passing by.

Given the GMGM quotes in the article I just posted in the news thread I'm having doubts about my prediction but I'll leave it be as a gut feeling.

Hmm Mojo is a late scratch, obviously could be because of jet lag and all but still trade could be possible as well. Fun to speculate

Why does Orlov keep getting paired with Green? They don't seem to have any chemistry at all.

In terms of puck possession, that pairing is easily the best on the Capitals. Granted, much of that is washed out by the one or two horrific gaffes it commits per game.

What would the + be, and would Hamhuis waive for WSH?

Hamhuis turned down more money from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to sign with Vancouver, and has a NTC for a reason. It's his hometown team. Almost no chance that Vancouver trades him, and even less that he would waive.

Nor is that offer even remotely enticing for Vancouver.

Your love affair with 52 continues...you really have to let go. ;)

That vancouver trade is a joke right lol. Orlov was awful tonight, that first goal he just swung and miss at the puck and let flesh score.

You wanted to trade for an all star type without giving up much? Shouldn't that comment be shot at?

"Without giving up toooo much" is very different from what you just said.

Is that not clear that I'm saying I'm willing to give up enough but hopefully we don't overpay?

English.

Dude. It's asinine. How do you get an "all star" plus another player or 2 "without giving up toooooo much" (what's with the grade school ooooo thing?)

An all star alone means you give up a LOT. And you want another couple pieces.

I can read English just fine man, it's your fantasy trade talk I was having a hard time comprehending. Maybe I just don't understand the nuances if the extra ooo's you added. "Without giving up too much" would have been different than "without giving up toooo much"? Is that it?

My bad

A win last night eases the trade tensions, but GMGM knows he goofed last year and won't make that mistake again. I think GMGM sits back and let's this tea, sink or swim with what it has. The defense is still suspect and the goaltending is ????????, but hasn't it been that way for most of GMGM's tenure. IT IS THE CAPITALS, so be prepared for a letdown.

Apparently Tyler Myers is available.

Green for Myers straight up.

Green goes to a city where he immediately becomes an intellectual and we get Sasha Pokulok with less suckage. Win/win.
