Abbotsford now gets a week off for the all-star break (save for Mueller, of course). Here's hoping that Lekkerimaki was held out of this weekend's set out of an abundance of caution, and that he'll be back when Abby is back at it on Friday vs Colorado, another team they're chasing in the Pacific.

I understand why they have to do it this way, but I really dislike the scheduling. Seems like they either play 3 back-to-backs in a row, not play for 5 days, then 3 more back-to-backs. I guess it's part of playing in the western conference and them not being able to afford to travel that much but god damn.

It always shocks me how many people slough off how tough it is for a 20 year old player to find their footing in the AHL--but especially for d-men.

I've watched AHL hockey in Abbotsford for a few games each season--going back to the old days of the Abbotsford Heat. And this is a tough league, fast and physical, and so far above junior hockey it's in a different universe.

Kudryavtsev is having a banner season for a rookie who still had OHL eligibility. I'm not surprised that Allvin brought his name up as one of their top defensive prospects.

Imagine if Juolevi had done this well as a 20 y.o.

You watch a few games each season. I've watched the vast majority in the past six years, save for the very short 2021 Covid AHL Lite season.

Right from training camp onward, I have been quite complementary of Kudryavtsev. And, said that this was unquestionably the best group of prospects on the Canucks' farm team in the past several years. Anybody can affirm this by using the search function, so attempts to portray otherwise are provably false.

Most players who go from CHL to AHL do so prior to their over-age season.

PS, Kudryavtsev is not a "right shot" defenceman as you claimed in a different thread.

Abbotsford is back in action tonight, on the road vs Colorado, one of the teams Abby is chasing in the Pacific.

It'll be interesting to see what the defence looks like, what with Brannstrom gone and DPetey up with Vancouver. Will Mancini be sent down in time to suit up? Will one of those lost souls, Akito Hirose or Christian Felton, get another shot, after each got into a game just before the break?

I'm also curious to see who starts in net. If it's Tolopilo, that might be a sign that management believes he's passed Silovs on the depth chart.

I guess the goaltending on the farm has to be considered something of a disappointment at this point.
