Aaron Ekblad vs Darnell Nurse

The two 1Ds of the SCF teams. Lots of similarities..Both came into the league the same year, they have the same height and size, peaked just outside top 5 in Norris voting during their best season, and most importantly, absolutely adored by their fanbases.

But who is the the better player now and who has been the better player throughout their careers thus far?

It's not to bash Nurse.

I think at one point it would have been easily ekblad. But injuries have taken a toll on him. Went from 57 points in 61 games, to 38 in 71, and now 18 in 51 games. That's a pretty significant decline in offensive production, and that's not even getting into his footspeed which has gotten worse over the years, limiting his defensive ability as well

Nurse has outproduced him the last 2 seasons. Also throughout their careers seems to be the much more physical presence, blocking and hitting a ton more. He's done this playing on generally worse teams defensively.

Neither is very good, but this is clearly Ekblad for both.

Bouchard is still too unreliable in the defensive zone, and requires Ekholm to shelter him at crucial moments of the game. Ekholm is the #1 guy who plays in ALL situations.

Nurse biggest problem is that he sometimes makes dumb decisions, but he has been better in that regard the last games

RIght now it's Nurse for me but if you asked me before the final started it would easily have been Ekblad.

Let's see if he can keep it up.

Nurse has the physique, speed etc, but he hasn't always been the smartest player to say it in a very political correct way ...
