Don’t worry Leaf fans. Whatever happens, you’ll still believe this is your year come October! And beleaf is everything!
I don't know about that.
You could argue that Ottawa thrived under the pressure of elimination and that was enough to win the last two games, while the Leafs didn't have the same kind of urgency with four kicks at the can.
Now that Toronto is running out of opportunities, the must-win mentality that Ottawa had alone is now shared more fairly with Toronto.
I guess the question is whether you think Toronto will play better or worse having not managed to seal the deal after the last two games. I can see an argument either way.
Not a chance. More like 20% chance they complete the comeback.
Leafs play worse when the pressure mounts, which it lost definitely is now. Last nights pathetic display was an example of things to come. Ottawa has momentum and no pressure. All they have to do is keep frustrating Toronto offensively and they’ve got this in the bag.
Leafs needed to end this series in one of the last two games. Not doing so had turned up the temperature, they’ll wilt now.
Most fans picked leafs in 6, I think 1% or less picked the leafs to sweep
Calm down
Someone mentioned they wondered how dangle was doing
Fun stat:
Marner has 6 shots in 5 games against Ottawa.
Caufield had 11 shots... in game #3.
The more I think about this today the less confidence I have that the leafs will win.
Turns out sens fans might have been right, all they had to do was show up and the leafs would eventually just beat themselves.
In two division wins with this core, they’ve blown a 3-1 series to an 8th seed and they are potentially now going to blow a 3-0 series against a 7th seed
I’d say it’s unbelievable, but I guess it’s not that unbelievable. They did it before and I can’t see a way they’re going to avoid it now. Not with that shit effort last night
They're 6th in the conference, not 7th.
Yeah I've thought the same for the past 5 yearsI can guarantee you that if they lose the series they are absolutely not running it back.
I cannot stand more than 2 seconds of this guys voice. I have to turn it off immediately. He and Subban I just cannot take
That's fair to say, but because of the divisional nature of the playoffs, it's also fair to call them a "7th seed" because they took the first wild card spot due to three teams in their division finishing ahead of them.
If you go by division, they're 4th in the Atlantic.
if you go by conference, they're 6th in the East.
If you go by NHL, they're 12th in the league.
Entertainment, what elseIf you’re not a fan of the leafs what does Shanahan’s role with the team matter to you?
Steve Dangle does have an annoying voice, but I can tolerate it. He's actually so bad that the pendulum swings back around to him actually being funny because of it, at least to me.
It would have been accurate to call them the third seed back in the day even if lower points because the NHL used to go by conference. You're not wrong. I was just pointing out that because of how seeding is determined due to the divisional playoff format, it's entirely fair to call them a "7th seed."
A possible parallel from the older format and alignment is that is that the worst division winner would be assigned the #3 seed, even if there were teams in other divisions that finished with a better record than them in the other divisions (but did not win their own division).

Now they go by division. So you should say WC1. If you go by conference, then you should look where they rank in the conference.
You're basically mixing two different standings to make it seem like they're worse than they are.
You're taking the divisional standings and applying it to the conference standings which doesn't make any sense.
Basically, put it this way. If Ottawa and New Jersey meet in the conference finals, Ottawa has home ice because they rank higher in the conference standings.

He makes his living off this how on earth do you feel sorry for him?I know a lot of his brand is about outrage and entertainment, but I genuinely feel sorry for the guy - having to pour your emotions out, live on stream, for everyone to see, and then do those recaps immediately after games, for a team that has given him NOTHING, is just brutal.
