I am genuinely worried about Dangle's mental health at the moment.
It would be a better look if you werent familiar because its clearly a very good defensive D core with lots of size. They dont have an elite play driver but 1-6 they are very strong, they give up very little, block tons of shots and box our very well. I dont need to give a list then you tell me how great Montreals D core is at the end of this.I’m quite familiar with the Leafs and the fanbase, believe me.
Where would you rank the Leafs D within the conference ?
Toronto may be taking it easier being up 3-0 than 3-2.
with regards to the standings, seeding, and experience yes.But you think 97pts is lowly? it's only one point behind Florida who had 98
I think you'll find most arrogance is born of compensating for something. In this case, that something is years of disappointment.
How else could you have any confidence in this team in the playoffs?
For my Leafs fan-related strategy, I prefer honest pessimism...or perhaps that would more accurately be called acknowledging reality at this point.
Like any fan I want them to win very badly, but at this point I'll believe it when I see it. There was a reason I predicted Sens in 7 and it's not just because I'm damaged.![]()
If you think those two situations are the same you should probably take your own advice. You can make yourself sound as dumb as you like but it won't change the fact that it was Interference. Stolarz was Interference as well and received a Penalty for it. You should watch the Series if you're planning to comment on it.
I'm fine with the Penalty not being called last night, that doesn't change the fact that it was a Penalty.
No. He said only 4 of 211 teams down 3-0 have come back to win. That's 2% of teams, not a 2% chance of winning. There's a difference. If you don't see it then take another math class my man.The original poster i responded to said to not worry that the Sens only had a 2% chance of winning the series because they were down 0-3 at one point. You're completely off track here.
Do you middle school reading comprehension?![]()
A single game's results are independent of the series, but a series is the aggregate of these games. The probability that Ottawa wins game 6 is different than the probability than Ottawa coming back down 3-0 to win the series. Are games not independent?....
While it's highly unlikely they beat a team like Toronto 4 in a row. These are aggregate scores.
Yes, it's the Leafs, but maybe a little credit to go to the Sens? Maybe instead of saying the Leafs "choked" last night (not you specifically, mind you), maybe the Sens just played a near-perfect road game, with great goaltending? Once they got the lead, they pretty much shut the Leafs down. It was textbook playoff hockey.with regards to the standings, seeding, and experience yes.
Florida had a bad finish to the season, they should have had a higher finish, quite possibly should have won the division as well, but injuries and circumstances happened. They get a pass though for making the finalstwo year ago, winning the cup last year. Meanwhile ottawa has none of that going for them, they may have overachieved this year.
This is a a division winner vs a wild card team. Leafs should have the been favourites ( and they were) but. given the leafs history and Ottawa winning game 5 the way they did it puts a real dent in the over confidence the leafs had walking into the series ( and the fans) Matthews has been invisible as usual. For such a superstar his playoff numbers are abysmal compared to the players he gets compared with ( MacK, McDavid, Draisaitl, Rantanen etc..) thats its not really to mention his name with those players.
Leafs and leaf fans were expecting a coronation after game 2. Dangle and his group of misinformed co hosts were talking about the next round and parade routes ( literally) They forgot who they were! Stolarz looks like a goalie who hasn't handled a big workload before, maybe he's getting tired out there, maybe not, and now the media is talking about switching goalies for game 6.
They should win the series, but because they are the leafs and lost 2 in a row including being shut out last night, and being 1-13 in games where they could have the series the questions being asked are 100% legitimate and wont stop even if they beat the sens. A win is a win, same goes for a series, but theres something to be said for style points, and the leafs dont have any.
you won't see me argue that. Im more or less speaking to the overconfidence coming from the leafs fans and how they should probably rein it in a little, given the history of their team, especially in this era and with this captain.Yes, it's the Leafs, but maybe a little credit to go to the Sens? Maybe instead of saying the Leafs "choked" last night (not you specifically, mind you),, maybe the Sens just played a near-perfect road game, with great goaltending? Once they got the lead, the pretty much shut the Leafs down. It was textbook playoff hockey.
Are the Leafs the stronger team? Yes. Should they be favoured? Again yes. But the Sen were 6-2-2 down the stretch and finished five points back of Tampa for second in the division, and would have been third in the Metro. They're nut exactly chumps.
It's not an excuse. The Leafs have none left.
But, Ottawa plays a tight, strcutued game, tries to clog up the neutral zone, and takes advantage of their opportunities. They should actually get a lot more credit than they are getting.
I mean, you’re jumping in the middle of a conversation and isolating a single sentence of my response to purposely miss the point, but go off kingThere’s been plenty of talk about score effects but it’s about time we talk about series effects.
So it’s a much improved defense without a number 1 dman? I don’t agree. It would be a better look if you werent familiar because its clearly a very good defensive D core with lots of size. They dont have an elite play driver but 1-6 they are very strong, they give up very little, block tons of shots and box our very well. Wow I am impressed, this is the first realistic breakdown of the sens I have read on here. An accurate take on this series as the leafs are the stronger team for sure but the way HF the media and leaf fans in general talked about this sens team it was shocking. Maybe people just dont want to portray respect for their opponent on here but this about as accurate a depiction of Ottawa as I have read on here and it took a very very long time to find one from a non sens fan.Yes, it's the Leafs, but maybe a little credit to go to the Sens? Maybe instead of saying the Leafs "choked" last night (not you specifically, mind you), maybe the Sens just played a near-perfect road game, with great goaltending? There arent many true number 1 D men in the league that are elite in all facets. Probably less than 15 maybe 10. For example the Habs dont have one. Hutson is a phenomenal offensive player but he isnt a matchup or PK guys. The leafs 5 or 6 guys that are all legit top 4 guys and a top pairing D man in Tanev. So it’s a much improved defense without a number 1 dman? I don’t agree.
The question I've always had is whether those 4 players in particular would have the same reputations if they weren't on the same team. Like everybody has shitty games in the playoffs, you just hope that all of your best players don't all have one at the same time, which seems to be what happens in these situations. Or maybe occasionally one of them is going (usually Nylander, historically?) but the rest have off nights. This core is fascinating in all the wrong ways. They truly should be a case study. Collectively all turn into a deer in headlights in perfect synchronization. Quite the skill.
I’ve never seen anything like it across all sports.
The f*** is happening today? I keep agreeing with you lolThere arent many true number 1 D men in the league that are elite in all facets. Probably less than 15 maybe 10. For example the Habs dont have one. Hutson is a phenomenal offensive player but he isnt a matchup or PK guys. The leafs 5 or 6 guys that are all legit top 4 guys and a top pairing D man in Tanev.
It was most certainly a diving or embellishment penalty, I agree. Embarrassing. Marner got away with one. Probably why they didn't call Zub on JT. A lot of flopping going on. Not saying JT dove, should have been interference at least.I'm fine with the Penalty not being called last night, that doesn't change the fact that it was a Penalty.
I don't worry too much about it lolThis one might not have aged as well as you hoped.... How did that game go again?
If you think those two situations are the same you should probably take your own advice.
I know a lot of his brand is about outrage and entertainment, but I genuinely feel sorry for the guy - having to pour your emotions out, live on stream, for everyone to see, and then do those recaps immediately after games, for a team that has given him NOTHING, is just brutal.I am genuinely worried about Dangle's mental health at the moment.
They definitely would have called the dive if they called the interference and if they didnt I think there would have been an immediate makeup call first chance. It was most certainly a diving or embellishment penalty, I agree. Embarrassing. Marner got away with one. Probably why they didn't call Zub on JT. A lot of flopping going on. Not saying JT dove, should have been interference at least.
I was comparing the situations, I responded to it. Regardless, Interference is Interference. If you think those two situations are the same you should probably take your own advice.
In NHL hockey, interference is a penalty called when a player illegally impedes the progress of an opponent who is not in possession of the puck. This can occur through body contact, blocking their path, or even interfering with their stick or equipment.
