Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-2)

Jokes apart, there have been 211 series where one team was up 3-0. The teams up 3-0 are 207-4. Statistically, the Leafs are pretty much guaranteed to win this series. Relax, Leafs fans, you’ll make it.
Not worried about this series, but the fact that the stars are still struggling to perform in big games is concerning for the rest of the playoffs. Even they can’t choke a 3-0 lead but they will get crushed by Florida.

Well shit, maybe I underestimated the Leafs ability to choke a series away. I've read some jarring stats regarding the Leafs in elimination games, which I'm sure have been shown in this thread.

Every time I watch Matthews in the playoffs, he just seems so lethargic. I often wonder if his jersey is even wet after a game. Nylander always appears to be the most engaged of the core, but it appears he also had a shit game. Man, the pressure is on now- the Sens are a pretty mid team, but they just might pull off the upset because the Leafs are in their own heads now. At least this series is interesting now!

Agreed, two chances to bury their opponents and 2 misses.

The questions around this team remain

The Sens are not 0-3 anymore, that statistic is completely irrelevant now. What you want are the probabilities of a 2-3 team to win a series.

I've seen many people use that on social media, do you guys even middle school math?
If you assume each game is independent, sure. But the reality is that’s likely not true, and you would need more than middle school math to understand that so not surprised many people on here wouldn’t get that.

Never really been a Senators fan, but I am not a fan of the Leafs, and love to see a good comeback story where a team perseveres (loving the Oilers coming back too, but then again they are my team). I would love to see the Senators run the tables the rest of the way. Hopefully it is finally the impetus to get rid of Shanahan. But all things being said, this "big 4" don't seem to click during the playoffs. But I am not a fan of the Leafs (both my sons are though) so it was a delight watching with them last night and seeing their downtrodden faces every time Ottawa scored.

If you’re not a fan of the leafs what does Shanahan’s role with the team matter to you?

And leaving at the 4 minute mark only down 3.
Huh? "Leaving at the 4 minute mark" implies there were still 16 minutes left.

The Sens made it 2-0 with just over 11 minutes left. When they made it 3-0 with the first ENG, there was 2:51 left. The way the Sens were locking the Leafs down, they weren't scoring 3 in less than 3 minutes.

It was an embarrassing effort. Why stick around?

Marner and Matthews 2 goals combined LMAO holy
This is what they've done their entire career.

I combed over NHL stats and Matthews over his playoff career has literally been otuscored by nearly 100 guys (high 90s).

How a 70 goal scorer/6th fastest to 400 has this happen, I don't know. But then again he also has 2 goals in his last 15 playoff games (11 goal pace) and has lead the Leafs to an 0-30 powerplay in elimination games.

Do you even high school math? You're looking at a data subset specifically of teams down 3-0. Otherwise the domain includes all instances of a team down 3-2 coming back to win. The stat that poster you quoted mentioned isn't looking at the probability of Ottawa winning 2 more games, it's the probability in the specific domain of a team down 3-0 winning four games in a row.

Too funny

I hadn't said a word, fans were already talking about this before any games in the series were played. Anyways, I am outta here. See y'all tomorrow
You have been spamming the boards all series.

We would need to drop all your comments into chatGPT to have it summarize what you've written. No one has the time to go through your post history to figure out exactly what you've said otherwise.
