Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-1)

As someone who was in the stands last night, I just want to commend the Leafs fans (and Sens fans) for a friendly and collegial atmosphere, at least in my area of the rink.

Lots of cheering and chanting but it was good-spirited.

As someone who goes to quite a few Leaf-Sens games in Ottawa, what you do notice is that a good half or more of the Leaf fans there are going to the games with their Sens fans friends and family. We have a lot of Leaf and Habs fans in the region.

So you see a lot of mixed groups, and mostly friendly ribbing.

100%. The battle of Ontario in the early 2000s had some wild crowds, fist fights in the arena and the parking lot, arrests every game it seemed, ect....

The vibe now in 2025 is different with family/friends groups as you say and everytime I go to Leafs/Sens in ottawa now it's good natured fun with the fans. Some back and forth with a few funny comments and a bunch of laughs in the section.

Everyone still cheers hard and is all in for the game but it's a different atmosphere now...

I think the score line in the series helped a bit as well.

It's not the end of the world for Leaf fans when they still have 3 shots at it.

Get a 4 minute double minor in OT to clinch the series.

Still complain about the refs.

Tavares returned to the game.

Head shot to a player and puck nowhere in sight. Player leaves the game for a significant amount of time. Concussion protocol presumably. You're just laughing that off? Are you a ghoul who wants to see Leaf players injured? I guess the huge relief your team didn't get swept is all that matters. I understand, but understand what a horrible human a person is laughing at head injuries and likely even cheering them on. But congrats on squeaking in a win before Ottawa's cup run ends. Parade is planned and banner to be raised. Ottawa just got their first play off victory in eight years.

Should be a suspension but it won't even get a hearing or fine. So laugh some more ghoul

Has Ottawa been this bad at faceoffs all season? They are getting dominated in this series on draws.

Toronto is 2nd in the league at 53.7%.

Ottawa is 4th in the league at 53.1%.

Ottawa's big advantage was Giroux's league leading ~61% but he hasn't really shown up this series.

The linesmen also seem to be tossing guys out a lot. I'm not sure if that's affecting their confidence.

Who was laughing? Why are you making stuff up?

Let's try it.

Meanwhile, you're wishing that Stutzle is MURDERED by strangers outside after the game.

For shame! Pretty reprehensible stuff really. Calling for Stutzle to be killed is a bit over the top if you ask me, but you do you!

Winning this game was worth it just to see hyperbolic posters like you crying.

I hope you sleep well wishing that our star player would die in some painful way.

I never mentioned Stutzle, I can't even think of a reason to wish him any harm. His silly little dives are barely worth mentioning. Are you attributing comments made by a completely different people, to me? Because my comments were specifically directed at you. Not taking what other Ottawa fan poster might say - just you. You mocked, saying Tavares returned to the game anyway and Leaf fans crying about the refs. You said those things, diminishing a head shot. I didn't mention Stutzle at all. You are making things up. Lies are all you have.

It just wasn’t a hard hit. Tavares flops to the ice because the refs have been calling soft stuff like that, I don’t blame him for trying to get the call, but the gesture just isn’t violent. Zub is barely moving. Ironically the sell job costs Tavares time because he gets caught by the protocol spotters. Glad he wasn’t out for the double minor or this game may end differently.

It's a elbow right to the head to an opponent who never be close to have the puck, if the same play happening in 1st or 2nd, that's probably resulting of a major/game misconduct penalty.

But leafs didn't lost because of this missing call

LOL, mocked?

I stated three basic facts and you extrapolated that to jumping up and down and dancing in the streets that Tavares missed part of the game and then returned.

Of course I'm relieved he returned. It means that it wasn't serious.

I know you are upset but the series is still very much in Toronto's control, so you can climb down from the ledge and stop reading into things that aren't there.

It was certainly fun watching Stutzle's silly little dive with his stick that launched the puck into the net after Domi's idiot play.

Domi (hitting Pinto? On the face off) gets called for a lesser version of what happened to JT via Zub. That’s the frustrating part.

Not saying we win the game either way. Ottawa did what they needed to do.

Looking forward to game 5.

Several days of rest and I can see the boys being pissed off not closing out this series. Tuesday night they should be rolling. Matthews need to do more offensively. Nylander as well.

The Leafs, playing a team looking to avoid a sweep in their own barn, held the Sens to four shots total in the second and third periods. They couldn’t score on a four minute PP in OT, and Stolarz looked shaky all night. He was due for a stinker. Sens got the bounces- again, they were probably due as well.

It’s playoff hockey. It happens.

Heading home up 3-1. Not even a little bit worried.

And 9/11 was an inside job

So what? That goes both ways.

Sens got called for borderline interference on Marner, then moments later after the PK, Batherson is interfered almost exactly the same way with no call.

Both sides can go back and forth on calls/missed calls all night. There's absolutely zero point to it. All that matters is the end result.

For what it's worth, the Zub incident should absolutely be a penalty - was it not called because of OT or the ref not seeing it? Who knows.
