Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-0)

I am glad it makes you feel better that another team might beat the team your team can't lol congrats on that.
Im not even a huge fan of either team. Im just saying the Leafs are going to have their hands full. Its true. I just came on here again to see if anything has changed with the fanbase...

Its over next round, regardless. They are going to blow their wad early with the massive Ottawa round 1 win. They dont have it in them to beat a team like Florida IMO. Marner will go back to being a mouse again once Florida starts throwing hits.

I thought you said it was over this round. Stay consistent.

Thats just hometown hopefuls. If you go and read articles from people who make a living off the sport and actually have a high level of hockey intelligence you will quickly see Toronto was the odds on favorite. How could then not be?
So what's your point then? That Toronto is better and people expected them to win?

Ya we’ve never been there you’re right. But Ottawa failed to make the playoffs for what 8 years? You’re making a complete fool of yourself lol.

Ullmark shades of Lalime. He is absolutely awful in the playoffs and a choke artist. Btw he has the lowest sv pct of any starter in the playoffs rn and you guys struggle to score more than 1-2 goals a game.
Well if anyone can pick out a teams playoff weaknesses, its a leafs fan. I said the same thing about Lalime yesterday. This has all the same flavors as the old days except it was Ottawa who was the better team on paper. This time around Ottawa is the under dog by a large margin. Completely different.

Appreciate the comps but you know that Big Chief was a forward right ? You’re referring them being grizzled vets maybe ?
Yup. Never posted on the Leafs board. Hate the team. Would be trolling for me to post there. But still can see they have the pieces (and experience) now to not only dispatch Ottawa quick but go right through the East to the Cup Final. Hoping, of course, they don’t.

I wonder what percentage of the crowd will be leafs fans in Ottawa for game 3 and 4. The Senators have tried everything to limit access for Leafs fans to get tickets but we always find a way

You have a sens avatar. The copium you’re on is some absolute crazy stuff. Get your dad to drop you off at school and get off the boards buddy - it’s embarrassing at this point

Beniot making that big play in OT reminded me so much of Cory Cross scoring that OT winner in game 3.

Also before the OT when they showed that Leafs won 4 of the 5 OTs in the history of this match up.

Every OT win was HUGE(obviously) in the grand scheme of things.

Sundin in game 1 when the Sens were heavy favourites
Thomas Game 5 when the series is tied
Roberts Triple OT when the Sens were up 1-0 in the series
Cross to give the Leafs a 3-0 series Lead
Fisher to send the Sens to game 7 in double OT

Still doesn't compare to the Leafs losing 3 game 7s to Boston in games they led though, including 2 in OT.

You finally have the goalie to back up the 4 that choked. Yep you're going all the way. The rhetoric in here is like every other year. Then the leafs go away and TSN switches right to Jays coverage. Its comedy. They are lucky its not split 1-1 against Ottawa!
What are you even talking about? You said we think it's Round 4 and I responded that we don't, we're well aware that it's Round 1, and you respond with something to do with TSN (lol?).

How can the rhetoric be the same as every year if the Leafs haven't been up 2-0 in a series with this core?

You went from saying no one gave the Sens a chance and of course the Leafs are winning because they are the consensus better team but now we're lucky it's not 1-1?

You sound hysterical at this point.

As I've said and as others clearly agree, you are all over the place with a whole lot of points and arguments.

The Sens had no chance but the series should really be 1-1 right now, no one gave the Sens a chance but the poll here was 50/50 but no that doesn't matter, of course the Leafs were favourites but you Leafs fans are dumb for thinking they'll win cause they never win, you guys think it's Round 4 but also don't know what it's like to be out of Round 1 cause you suck.

Blah blah blah.

All I heard before Sunday night was how Brady was gonna own us all. Funny how that works.

Credit to the Sens for their effort last night. I thought the high danger chances were pretty even but they had the edge in possession. Both teams had some lucky bounces and the game could have gone either way. At the end of the day, it came down to goaltending.

Thank God they weren't throwing hits in the 4 Nations Cup. He would have been useless.

No offense but Leafs are the heavy favourites to win this series. If Ottawa wins it would be a big upset.
And if you don't believe that tell me which team would undertake major changes if they lose?

Well, now up 2-0, they are I guess. But this iteration of Maple Leafs are not a heavey favorite against any NHL team in a playoff series, until they prove otherwise. And no one would be shocked if they still blow this thing.

And yet you look at the season record and we went 3-0-0 against the Leafs.

There’s a hundred ways to look at this result / series.

Means nothing. 3 games were spread across an 82 game regular season where injuries, and other factors come into play.

A playoff series where you play and prep for the same opponent up to 7 times in a row, it's just entirely differnet.

The Leafs have done a great job of bunching up the middle of the ice forcing ottawa to the outside to take a bunch of low quality shots and most impressive is the amount of blocked shots Toronto is making. The system works.....
It made for less entertaining hockey in the regular season but definitely more effective in the playoffs.

Having big bodies being able to box out down low has been huge, especially with a more capable goalie in Stolarz in nets as well. And Berube's calmness really does feel like a needle mover. That may be more a reflection on Keefe. While it's not his fault the Leafs choked in the playoffs in the past, it did feel when the players were hanging on by their fingernails in tough spots, he was hanging by his as well.
