The Metro games started as novels (same as The Witcher). It's more like BioShock or Prey (2017).I am not huge on shooters to begin with and the post apocalyptic genre runs its course on me quickly. My buddies were huge into Resident Evil and Nazi Zombies and after a while it becomes very redundant shooting down waves of mindless killers. After like 6 months I was begging to go back to games like the Zelda franchise -yep. I'm a nerd
I can make an exception for Halo and Gears of War because I am the kind of guy who will play a shooter for a plot. I am liking Fallout 4 enough as a plot to keep engaging in it despite how frustrated I'm getting

Firewatch supposedly has a good story, although it's more of a walking sim.
Titanfall 2 is a great game that didn't sell that well. Not as strong as a story, but it has that COD4 era DNA to it. The single player campaign is well worth the time, IMO. The development studio went on to make Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
