You do realize you are now comparing offensive stats of a winger vs a defenseman, correct?Dahlin's defensive pairing with Byram is having 52% expected goals this season. Marner's line is playing +60% hockey. That's quite a big difference being 52-48 player and 61-39 player. Yes it is a line work but Dahlin's line as a whole isn't any worse than Marner's although he has Matthews, because the rest 3 players on the ice are so much worse than those who Buffalo put on the ice with Dahlin. No excuses Dahlin seems not to be ever able to lead Buffalo on the playoffs and he is not better than 110 points elite 2-way forward. I don't care to argue about this more if you can't see that. Marner gets hate because Leafs have failed in playoffs but Dahlin's Buffalo can't even get there.
And no from Marner. No from Buffalo.
Honestly, no. Dahlin was a a bonafide #1 d man. Those are difficult to obtain via draft or development. He’s the captain of the youngest roster by age in the league. Buffalo wouldn’t even entertain trading him I’d surmise. You wouldn’t want Marner with an extension in place?
There’s nothing Toronto can add to this deal to make Buffalo a better team?
Haha did you really just mention Buffalo and playoffs? They would definitely be remiss not to add Marner’s stellar playoff production!
If Marner signs an 8 year extension with Toronto he's not going to waive to go anywhere. End of storyI disagree. Marner signed to 8x$x and his value skyrockets. Obviously im guessing TOR keeps him then, but hypothetically.
Or if they pull a Huberdeau/Tkachuk trade where both signed/knew they would sign 8 year deals.
In no universe does a signed Dahlin get traded for a UFA Marner.
Marner extension in place then the talks can begin.
You probably should try to understand what these stats even mean and how to read them before commenting them. Let me teach you: This is not a offensive stat but instead it counts how many % of goals is expected to be scored for and against your line when they are on the ice.You do realize you are now comparing offensive stats of a winger vs a defenseman, correct?
Once your replacement level bologna got shut down you moved the goalposts to offensive output difference between two entirely different positions.
We get it, you don't like Dahlin. You don't have a consistent, coherent reason why but you are at least all-in on it.
Buffalo's issues run far, far deeper than Dahlin. Acting like he is the reason they haven't reached the playoffs is asinine, uninformed, and laughable.
Well which is it. Does he want to stay in Toronto or does he want to win a cup.Mitch wants to stay in Toronto and win a cup.
No, what will happen is he will go to a team and then wins the cup.Imo Marner will not play as well as he does for his home town team anywhere else. He’s a Leaf.
Lifetime Leaf, imo.No, what will happen is he will go to a team and then wins the cup.
so they will do it thenAbsolutely. Dahlin is A) A franchise player B) He plays a much more important position C) He's younger than Marner and locked up long-term. This is an absolute turd sandwich for Buffalo.
It would have to be a long term play. Draisitl for Dahlin for example. A true hockey trade that shakes up both teams.Sabres will not be moving Dahlin at any realsitic price
