GDT: a storm descends upon the nocaps.

the only decision he seems to make is "Who can I send out there to give them a shot to be the unexpected hero?"

IMO this is exactly what happened.

The outcome didn’t matter. There’s a human element to the bond between these guys and the players feel a lot differently about it than we do.

How was Jets-Stars game....must be deflating for Stars to have lost 2x in a row at home and now have to play Avs

The Jets are very, very good. It'd be a huge surprise if they don't make it to the Finals if they play like they did tonight.

As for the Stars, the game plan to beat them appears to be scoring in transition off of turnovers. All 4 Winnipeg goals came like that

TIL that -

I already hated Subban for at least a decade. Anytime his mouth opens the TV goes on mute. He's as much of a dumbf*** on the air as he was the ice.

OT Penalty - National commentators - "Sometimes superstars just get calls like that, guf guf guf, oh well!"

Fully expect playoffs to be more Andersen shitting himself at just the right time as always, and "Ovie should retire with another cup" Officiating.

Andersen had a meh night after having a stellar stretch. Everyone wants a tier 1 goalie. Teams do not give up T1 goalies. PK won't stop being a headcase so..... IDK?

Yes, everyone knows we need a scorer. Necas was not that here cosistently. Of course he looks like rantanen next to mackinnon. What do you think jarvis would look like next to him?

I just want MONTRÉAL OR OTTAWA TO COOK THOSE CU^TS.

Because of… the implications.
Kotkaniemi scores the series clenching goal to finish the series sweep game 4 in Montreal. After having a hattrick in game 1 and dropping the gloves with Suzuki in game 2 and KOing him.

A riot ensures. Hundreds of top tier gifs are generated.

I was hoping for Blake, Stankoven, and Morrow or maybe Jankowski for similar purposes.

In any event the only actual crime in there is that Ovechkin didn’t go. At home. On his night. When the outcome didn’t matter.

Probably wanted him to be the hero in the shootout extra innings, but forgot they were facing the Canes who can't score a breakaway or shootout goal to save their lives

And to Brindamour’s credit, it has worked occasionally. I think there was a shootout against LA last year where Martinook got the shootout winner? Definitely not someone you would expect.

That being said, I’d still prefer if he played the odds and went with the likes of Jarvis (or even Stankoven) over Walker.

I think Rod just flat out does not care about shootouts or the extra point once it gets to a shootout. We've won a few over the years but mostly have been terrible in shootouts under Rod and he never seems to pick our top guys for all 3 spots.

I still think OT should be 5 minutes of 3 on 3, followed by 4 minutes of 2 on 2 followed by 3 minutes of 1 on 1. If you don't score then each team gets a point.

Also, OT penalties should be 3 on 2 and it should be frowned upon to call anything but the most egregious infractions.

Then simply take away the loser point.
