I couldn't be the only one that thought her new look was inspired by Mavis, from the Hotel Transylvania movies. And for the record, as I stated in my other post here, I didnt mind her in-between the benches. Not a fan of her PxP though.

I don't mind her between the benches at all. I don't hate her voice. Hextall is just really bad at PxP.

I have a feeling her position will be secured as long as useful idiots keep sending her misogynistic stupid messages that will distract ESPN and thus prevent all reasonable critical feedback from making an impact.
So like Disney with the Phase 4 "MSheU", Disney with Star Wars and Amazon with Lord of the Rings. It doesn't matter how bad it is, as long as some portion are toxic misogynistics and the big corporations can pretend that ANYONE who doesn't like their product (which is fast approaching everyone at this point) is just a toxic misogynist, and not actually address the root cause and valid criticisms.

Yeah, that's pretty much what my cynical side is telling me.

At the end of last year she was speaking at some event about her first year experiences as an NHL pbp announcer. Only focused on misogynistic messages she had received over the year and gender inequality within hockey culture/business. Maybe she wasn't meant to talk about her pbp skills there but would be nice to hear a bit of self-criticism/awareness from her whenever she decides to open up about her job since there are so many consumers unhappy with her pbp. Try to publicly express that you've been asking yourself questions such as: What am I trying to do better this year? In which areas do I need to improve in order to become a tolerable hockey announcer?

Yes it seems that ESPN thinks they're bravely getting us all used to female pxp, like this is some Jackie Robinson moment. And to some extent I think that is true. Some of the haters aren't going to be happy with any female pxp.

But if Hextall is legitimately awful at it, how do you convince ESPN that there is an actual quality problem here? We might have to wait until a decent female play caller comes along and then they'll realize how bad Hextall is.

Once you realize its literally only HF nerds and eternally grumpy twitter warriors that complain about her, you'll realize shes not bad at all and its all in your head.
She’s hands down the worst they have to offer, but it’s also not a big deal and really easy to tune out anyways.

ESPN made a calculated error by not having enough competition in this year's announcer training camp. On air time must be earned, not gifted. They need to invite some undrafted media free agents next year, as well as scour the NCAA for some late developers. If they up their scouting game in Europe, that could pay dividends. An accent would be welcome compared to what we're currently exposed to. Maybe Hakan Andersson's agent might know someone.

Is nobody watching what Yzerman is doing in Detroit, FFS? Single-handedly rebuilding the DRW media team? Case in point: They lose Manon Rheaume, but after an exhaustive search, find Jimmy Howard as a replacement. A stroke of genius from the best GM in the NHL.

I'd better edit and stress thst this is satire.
