To be fair, Nathan Mackinnon has been better than McDavid offensively 5v5 for a few years now.
I find the “empty net” points argument kind of odd. “Let’s bash Nathan Mackinnon for being Colorado’s best shutdown centre and being sent out to defend leads every night and being very successful in doing so” lol.
Since Jan 1, 2023 (two full calendar years) Nathan Mackinnon is the leagues best point producer 5v5. That doesn’t include empty net goals so you can give that weak argument up.
Mackinnon 169 games played, 62 goals, 93 assists. 0.917 points/game at 5v5
Mcdavid: 156 games played, 46 goals, 88 assists. 0.859 points/game at 5v5

The premise of this thread talking about the last two games for Mcdavid is childish stuff no doubt. But the premise of someone potentially being better than him definitely isn’t.
