Speculation: A long run of wins is coming

If we win our next game, we'll be tied with Phi and NYI (we have the tie breaker I think) and back into the thick of the Wild card race.

Not ideal, we really could have used some pts against VGK and EDM, but what's in the past is in the past. Zub out hurts though, even if the D were fairly solid last night.

Why do you do this to yourself lol

Every year you speak optimistically after a win or two.

Hold off on the anti negative until we actually are winning most games consistently lol

A win or two here and there isn't enough.

This team is just too easy to score on. Like every other season, they can't keep the puck out of their net. Even last night, they give up a goal with 38 seconds remaining. I don't even want to imagine what the team morale would be if that had been a tying goal.

The next three games are all winnable games, but it's gonna be tough. We need to get at least 4pts out of 6. I do believe this team is better then what they are showing so far. It would be nice to sweep California.

No team are winning games consistently except for the Jets, heck the Stanley Cup champs have only one win in their last 7 games, every team goes through peaks and valleys throughout the season.

Right, I'm saying wait for a peak.

Good teams will win like 7 or 8 out of 10 a couple times a year. Wait for those streaks is what I'm saying. Then we can go on about how good we are to our little heart's desires.

Heck, with out history, we should wait until we actually clinch a playoff spot.

Do what to myself? You act as if my attitude on the games have negative implications on my life, quite the contrary.

I watch hockey to be entertained, I can't imagine being entertained if I were perpetually negative about their potential.

The only thing this team has proven so far this year is that they lose more often than they win. There should be no statements about "winnable" games or that we "should beat" team x, y or z. They haven't shown themselves to be good enough to have that kind of mental swagger going into any game. If they win 8 or 9 out of their next 10 games, we might be able to start considering that kind of talk. Until then, anyone who says anything like that is just kidding themselves.

It's entertaining like watching a car crash, or a building collapse.

Remember when Homer and Bart were watching "when things go wrong when buildings collapse"? Lisa wanted none of it, but Bart and Homer were so entertained??? I think it's the episode where Lisa thinks she will end up being dumb like her dad and brother, but then they found out it's only the men lol

That's this team lol it's very entertaining.

I thought I’d generate this to use in the future. It's easy & quick to update as games are played.

The games against teams we are competing against for a wild card spot are important and would impact the spreadsheet. If that opponent got a loser point, it would make it harder to reach the playoff goal.

Ottawa is not playing like a wildcard team, but is as good as any non-wildcard team. Buffalo has that final wildcard spot with two more wins in two more games played, and has a positive goal differential. They are the first team ahead of Ottawa in the standings that I see as a challenge to catch at the moment.

Ottawa is in league with virtually all non-wildcard teams ahead of them when you take wins into account, not to mention goal differential.

Detroit, Columbus, and Philadelphia have more points, but the same amount of wins at 9, and the Islanders are ahead of all these teams with just 8 wins. Boston has one more game played and one more win than Ottawa. None of these teams have better goal differentials than Ottawa.

It's very early. A 3-4 game win streak where goaltending is strong has us singing a different tune, as we would be in line with wildcard teams in terms of wins and goal differential.

So this California trip is absolutely an opportunity to flip the script on the season.

as of today, 12 teams have wining percentage of 0.6 or better.

in past years typically 10-14 teams played that well.

It pretty much means, the Sens will have to playout the rest of the schedule as an NHL elite.

Here's to trying!!

Hoping we can go at least 3-2 in the next 5 games. SJS, Ducks, and Preds are all games we should be winning. Beating the Wings would be awesome and the Kings are the biggest threat in the next 5 games.

Kings are playing back to back and their 3rd in 4 nights. At some point we need to beat a team in that scenario.
That apparently is our kryptonite.

However, I believe the last 2 games, which we may not have deserved to win, are the springboard the team needs to get going.

Here is to a sweep of the CA trip.

The NHL has not used “Winning Percentage “ ever since they eliminated Ties, and began awarding a Loser point for games lost in OT or a SO.

They switched to “Points Percentage “

Not sure what an “easy stretch” means anymore considering most of these teams are above us in the standings.

They're not as far above us in the standings as the schedule we've already played.

Unless these guys find some killer instinct (some of them have but nowhere near enough) that there's no hope of playoffs.
