Speculation: A long run of wins is coming

It's one of those things. When the Sens are dominating possession and shots without result the pressure mounts on Ullmark, and it feels almost like an insurmountable climb back when he lets in bad goals after such an effort.
I just re-watched the highlights from the Oilers game and I can't say Llnus let bad goals in that game. We just gave some grade-A chances to McDraisaitl.

"A long run of wins is coming"

For us or for teams playing against us?
I'm hoping for us.

Athletes go through ups and downs. As everyone who's played sports knows, one month you're in the zone and the next month you're trash. They have lost their confidence (in particular Ullmark). Will they get it back? Most definitely. How long it takes is the issue.

Id say pro athletes* not just athletes.

Playing the top level competitive hockey and soccer throughout my teens, I never noticed the type of ups and downs I noticed with the pros. The best players were always the best players and the worst players were always the worst players.

It's the pros where the difference in ability is tiny from the top to the bottom so anyone on any given night can be good or bad relative to the roster.

Apologies on the nitpick btw lmao I just always found it fascinating how up and down pros are compared to amateurs. Growing up, I never noticed these ups and downs...that guy who was a better skater than everyone being scouted was generally always better. It wasnt depended on ups and downs. He just stepped on the ice and skated around everyone and created plays regardless of the day or how he felt.

Then I'll watch game tape of batherson creating something every time he touches the puck one game....and then I'll watch 3 games where he's invisible and only has a secondary assist.

How is it that I can see him dominate like that 16 year old kid, but then he disappears for multiple games.

Obviously I know the answer is it's the top level and the difference is so small...just saying I never experienced this as a relatively good athlete growing up.

We all want a winning streak more than anything. This T.V. Show can’t kill off its main plot line in November and expect people to watch until April.

Forsberg always seems to do what you least expect him not to do so he’ll probably go on a home winning streak here versus all these good teams.

My dream was also pretty crazy. It was about how the elevators in my office didn't work and would free fall, but it was fine and everyone just adjusted by jumping before we land. Strange, but I had completely forgotten it until I stepped into the elevator this morning.

So in your dream we went on a winning streak? That's cool.

Dreams are strange indeed.

Jumping before the elevator crashes is a bad idea, you are more likely to make things worse (you may end up hitting the ceiling, then hitting the ground at just about the same force as if you hadn't jumped), and the potential benefit is so minimal that the added risk just doesn't make sense.

Let me go back into my dream and tell people that! What were they thinking!?!

I hope so. I really do.

I really want to be in the playoff race this year....and not in a "in theory, if we go full Hamburgular run, we might squeak in on the last day" sort of way.

Ottawa hasn't won more than 5 games in a row since 2017, we're not going on any reasonable streak anytime soon. Sorry.

This team can play well. They're in a bit of a funk, but I've seen this season that they are different than they were in previous seasons. The record doesn't show the reality of our play. I have a feeling we are going on a long run of wins to finish out November.
I agree.

We have all seen too much. And everyone here shuold know, without a shadow ofa doubt, that this team is way better. They are not getting the results, but you have to know , to a man, that they know it in that room.

They just need the commitment to stick to that style. Boston game, Toronto game, two amazing road games. They crushed the Flyers with the same style. We can see what "Senators Hockey" looks like. We saw it in Vegas, Utah, MSG, at home against the Panthers, Kraken, etc...we can all define what Senators hockey is.

It is going to be an up and down season until this comes to them naturally, but I think in the end, they have a great chance at making the playoffs. Ullmark is not Murray . And he is no Korpisalo

The core is delusional. Dorion made them believe they better than what they actually are. Handing out ludicrous deals. These kids are way to young to be getting this much money and feeling this much entitlement.

The first goal was bad, no reason to be so deep in his net

Otherwise - sure, but when you are paying someone as a top-tier goalie, they are supposed to make great saves on the grade-A chances goalies are "not supposed to save". At this point I watch our games like Korpi is in net, it seems any shot or chance might go in. That's not what we need Linus to be.

Dorion had this idea that whomever he drafts is worth 8 million a year.

I think Stutzle deserves his contract and so does Batherson. Everybody else is getting overpaid, including Tkachuk because the guy can't play defense!

Sanderson was great last year and terrible this year. Ottawa, the place where contracts go to die.

I was going to put some money on the Sens tonight, but we are too heavily favoured to win (!). Which means we will lose. But I didn't make the bet, so we will win. Which means I have no idea.

Vegas will be tired, but they will also be motivated after the loss.

I think we can beat Vegas. But I put the likelihood at 20%. They are a much better team than we are.
If you think the likelihood is 20%, you should bet of Vegas. They are the overwhelming underdog right now.

If our goaltending is going to let in goals galore, I hope we can at least see some score fests.

Show the opposition that we can score more than they can. If we let in 5, respond with 7. Glass cannon our way into a win streak!

Bottom line is he didn't provide any better hockey than a replacement-level 750k goalie would have. That's a problem for an 8.25 mil goalie who we also spent a 1st round pick to get.

Aside from the goals, he let some very juicy rebounds in that game too.
