Management A letter from Charlie Jacobs

Somebody in the media needs to push back hard, but it won't happen except for Felger and KPD.

KPD was blunt in the Sunday Globe as Charlie keeps harping that we value championships, but they have ONE Cup in 50 years

With my own eyes, I have seen the Cup won on Boston ice 6 times, and only once was it the Bruins.

The four US Surviving Six teams all missed the playoffs, which is astonishing.

:banghead:
Yeah, but look a Vegas! Look at Utah!

And soon enough, look at Houston! And maybe even, three times the charm, look at Atlanta!

The league executives and owners are not worthy of the game, the league, or the fans.

Scumbags all.

I believe CHB once described Boston sports fans this way:

(Note: this might have evolved a little since the ‘90s)

*Celtics fans won’t let you copy their homework.
*Red Sox fans will let you copy their homework.
*Bruins fans will just take your homework.
*Patriots fans will take your homework, cheat off it, and still get it wrong.

To the point about “getting” the fanbase, I’ll give Jeremy Jacobs a sliver of respect by pointing out that he never once pretended to “get” us or pass himself off as some pillar of the community. Charlie comes across as nothing but a phony. He tries to be slick, but falls flat every time. Especially when he talks about accountability. I’ve discovered that the people who yak most about accountability know the least about it themselves. Charlie is great at blaming everyone but himself when it comes to winning. I’m sure Charlie Jacobs is a very smart man and has forgotten more about business than I will ever know, but when it comes to accountability, he’s spineless.

Cam Neely has no excuse for not understanding the fanbase. I expect a lot more from him.
Expect what you have received, and will continue to receive going forward.

Have Cam Neely or Don Sweeney ever -- ever -- given you a reason to expect otherwise?

Boston Bruins management remains a hermetically sealed, airless operation that admits of nothing uncomfortable, unpredictable or outside an exceedingly conservative, risk averse and ultimately self defeating mind set.

Simply put, a conveyor belt to nowhere.

Save the bank 🏧.

The nastiest pushback will come from the fans when the passing of Jeremy Jacobs is announced before a Bruins game and a deafening chorus of boos shakes the foundation of the Garden during the moment of silence and video tribute.

Charlie must think we’re all morons.

My first reaction to that letter is to push away from the Bruins and spend my time and money elsewhere. I’m already doing that because I’ve probably watched 3 games from start to finish all season, and didn’t attend a single game this season for the first time in several years. I’m starting to think that my spike in activity on this board is out of anger. Yes, some of it is excitement at the prospect of a new and talented high-end player coming in June, but that’s not all of it.

And that’s not counting Stanley Cup losses in other cities.

Gary Bettman must be delighted.
When Burns shuffles off from Buffalo at long last, two scenarios leap to mind.

One, ownership & organization will hold the aforementioned ceremony, somehow clueless to the possibility of a less than appreciative fan response.

(My guess there is brief, polite applause in observance of social decorum if nothing else.)

Two, Charlie, who went to BC and knows full well what Bruins fans think of his father, will astutely decline any commemorative observance at all.

I suspect he will opt for the latter.

As Sinatra used to say in a different context, "Why be a hero?"

What's so funny about it? He's so out of touch with the fans (who pay the bills as @Aussie Bruin said in his post) it isn't funny. If he knew what we think and how we feel it might change his perspective to a certain extent. He needs to get out of his bubble and take a good look around.
When do the rich and entitled emerge from their perfectly climate controlled bubble to breathe the same air as the great unwashed?

Try never.

Sounds like you think Bruins fans know more about how the team should be run than people that make their living in hockey.

If that's the case, I won't argue with you.
I think its ok for fans to want the guy who meddles in his GMs job when he should stay the f*** out of it and the GM who seems to consistently leave top six forwards and top four dmen on the board to pick the next trade bait that's attached to a first round pick to trade for the kind of player he could have drafted in the first place to be fired. especially when they've been doing it for 10+ years now.

The coaches thing im not holding on sweeney, neely forced the issue with Cassidy and Monty really f***ed this team and deserves to get exposed in the POs again.

but when it comes to other aspects of day to day management there is plenty to be upset about. I'm more in the camp of getting rid of Neely and letting your GM be both pres and GM, Dom's mentioned it before, the team wont be able to attract a competent GM because Neely cant keep his f***ing hands out of it,
