I think it's cute how some massive homers like this guy think there are UNTOUCHABLE players on their team in Eichel trade.

The Habs have cap to spend,, Weber will be on LTIR for the rest of his career likely.

We replaced him with Savard at half the price and added Hoffman up front to replace Tatar and Dvorak to replace Danault (ugprades in both spots really).

kevyn Adams said he wants the equivalent of 4 1st round picks for Eichel

:habs

Jack Eichel

:sabres

2022 1st round pick (whichever doesnt go to Phoenix)
2023 1st round pick
Joel Armia
Logan Mailloux

people are gonna cry about Armia but he's a solid 2nd liner and the cost of him would likely be a late 1st rounder at the deadline so ya nuff said
I think any possible trade with the Habs, Suzuki has to go the other way for starters and add from there.

he's obviously the lowest piece

there are 3 1st round picks included..
This is a total BS proposal and a total BS explanation. Yes the Habs took Mailloux in the first, but given his story he is definitely not worth a 1st round pick to anyone. The 2022 is going to be the later of the 2 picks because Phx gets the better of the 2 and Armia as a 28 year old winger with a career high of 30 points and a $3.4 cap hit is not a bargain. I don't care what Armia has "paced" at because unless you've done it at least once, you are as good as your best season - 30pt winger. Over the past 3 seasons Armia ranks as the 220th forward in the NHL for scoring right around the same level as KHL player Virtanen and superstar Richard Panik. In points per game he ranks 25oth among NHL forwards sharing the same pt% as Kempe and Boedker. I understand that there's more to hockey than point totals but it is very disingenuous to proclaim Armia as a top 6 forward in the NHL. A defensive 3rd line winger, sure but lets not sell him as anything other than a slightly above replacement winger, now signed for 4 years at $3.4.

I think you are trying to get a fight going with this proposal but it is clearly a terrible offer with an even worse justification.

Including at least one of Caufield, Romanov or Suzuki as the starter is realistic.
Carolina's late 1st, a bottom sixer and a prospect who was just suspended indefinitely for a huge off ice offense is not in any way realistic or of value to Buffalo. It's offensive.

Suzuki and Caufield are going nowhere for a guy earning 10M$ a year with a big ? Health wise.
Romanov and Guhle are A prospect that would be disponible. One of them + 2 x 1st (unprotected) and a contract is the farthest I’d go and I’m pretty sure Buffalo wouldn’t find a better package. Now if Eichel gets his surgery and prove he is still as good as he was, Buffalo might get a better package but again doubt it because Eichel’s NTC will have kicked in.

At the end of the day, Buffalo is screwed.

That’s an instant pass. No team is going to send their best young player + back for Buffalo’s overpaid problem child with a massive health question mark

This is a trade that is so bad for Montreal that I would possibly achieve climax if MB were to do it. The Habs are going to be BAD this year and the Dvorak pick is top 10 protected. Trading the other pick means Montreal is gambling with the farm.

"A fair offer"

*Doesnt include Suzuki or Caufield*

If you got a healthy Eichel, that’s more the price.

Eichels not. What was right now isn’t what is and the prognosis on his injury raises real concerns.

So 2 1sts, 2nd and Armia at full retention is a fantastic deal for a ?

I don't see the Habs dealing Suzuki, they would want him and Eichel going forward.

I do agree that in a trade Buffalo needs a high-end C prospect coming back to potentially replace Eichel's spot in their future line-up.

This doesn't make a Habs trade likely unless something could be workout around Dvorak. The other issue in this potential deal is all the best Montreal prospects are D, and Buffalo has 2 #1OA picks on their backend going forward.

Right? Only players Buffalo are interested in would be Caulfield, Suzuki, Gallagher (retained, to flip for other assets), and that's about it.

Is Mailloux even considered an asset at this point?

He’s an albatross who will lose a year of development, especially critical when you consider that it takes longer for D to develop.

Mailloux is a toxic asset — he’s Bergevin’s problem, not an asset in a trade scenario.

If a team is only hoping to pay the lowest basement price because of the ? surrounding Eichel, the Sabres will trade him elsewhere. Definitely not trading within division for the lowest possible asking price. If thats too steep for the Habs they can happily move on with the players they currently have or find another team to try to sell short, but #1C's don't get traded for their absolute bottom of the barrel price.

To Montreal
Jack Eichel
2022 3rd
2024 5th

To Buffalo
2022 1st
2023 1st
Caulfield
Romanov

That's a lot closer to what an actual Eichel to Montreal trade would look like.

Wasn’t Buffalo seeking 4 first rounders or an equivalency?

That offer meets Buffalo’s ask. You gotta give to get, that’s the only thing that is truly « fair ».
