Blueger for a 3rd? Solid defensively responsible 3c that can pk, puts up about 25-30 points a year. 30 years old and on his last year of a miniscule 1.8m/year contract.
Works for me.If NJ wants retention then a 2025 3rd and 2026 2nd would be great.
I mean, you lot have Cody Glass. The best UFA centers are too expensive and others too mediocre, so a trade might be the best way to get a 3rd line center to NJ. But who are available?
The Devils could offer a combination of these assets:
- a 1st (2026)
- 2 x 2nds
- prospects (Casey, Hämeenaho, etc.)
- Mercer
Haula has regressed and he can't play center anymore. Mercer is a winger who has played as a center because there haven't been any other options. To put it mildly, Glass wasn't good in the playoffs.New Jersey already has 3C.
1C Hughes
2C Hischier
3C Haula/Mercer
4C Glass
Haula had a nasty ankle injury that he was playing with and Glass was also injured just before the playoffs so I'm not sure we know for sure what they are capable of at this point. Haula was fine as a depth center the prior year and Glass looked very good when he arrived until he was injured. I'm not suggesting either is the answer at 3C but without knowing what was hampering them who knows what they might be able to offer.Haula has regressed and he can't play center anymore. Also maybe Haula is a better winger now. His 22-23 season did primarily come on the wing.Haula had a nasty ankle injury that he was playing with and Glass was also injured just before the playoffs so I'm not sure we know for sure what they are capable of at this point. I think having backup plans at C is good.
Problem is Glass will always be injured so if you are going to use him you better have a backup plan.Haula had a nasty ankle injury that he was playing with and Glass was also injured just before the playoffs so I'm not sure we know for sure what they are capable of at this point. Devils kind of have smaller, injury prone centres. Maybe they need a heavy body for 3C who can stay in the lineup?Problem is Glass will always be injured so if you are going to use him you better have a backup plan.
Yeah frankly you probably need a Sissons type of player. Rarely misses games, has a physical aspect, good on defense and faceoffs. Frankly if he was 28 instead of 31 he would almost fit in perfectly.Devils kind of have smaller, injury prone centres. Maybe they need a heavy body for 3C who can stay in the lineup?
DONE DEAL ABSOLUTELYSomething like Danault for Hamilton?
Devils should sign Pius Suter as a UFA July 1. He’s an excellent 3C (20+ goals this year) who can play 2C when injuries happen. And with Jack Hughes it’s smart to have a p on Ayer who can take his minutes when the inevitable injuries occur.
Probably Silayev 1 for 1
Deal!
As a Devils fan I'd do that deal.
It's a golden day. A hockey deal happened on HFB, just like that. Everyone go buy a lotto ticket. Ask your crush out. The stars are aligned this week.Samesies.
Yeah, I highly doubt that.Any chance Nashville goes for a big rebuild/re-tool this summer?
NJ could offer a massive package for a Forsberg/O'Reilly combo to address their top 6 FWD and 3rd line C positions.
To NJ:
Filip Forsberg
Ryan O'Reilly
To NSH:
Simon Nemec
Ondrej Palat
Dawson Mercer
2026 1st round pick
2025 2nd round pick
Lenni Hameenaho
Yeah, I highly doubt that.
We need all of the Swiss players!I would be shocked if the Devils don’t got hard at him this offseason.
I wouldn't but really depends on what other moves they make. Until they are able to actually clear cap it's going to be a tight squeeze.I would be shocked if the Devils don’t got hard at him this offseason.
Source?Curious what direction Nashville is going.
It doesn't look like there is any path to being a contender any time soon. There are rumors about a mutual contract termination with Steven Stamkos. Forsberg is going to be 31 this summer, with 5 years remaining on his contract. Josi is going to be 35 this summer, with 3 years remaining on his.
If I'm them, I move Stamkos, Marchessault, O'Reilly, Forsberg, Josi, Saros and bring in some insane youth to jumpstart a rebuild
