With Lou out I feel like its more likely we see an Islanders rebuild. Could see one of or both Horvat/Barzal getting moved. Both the Habs should be interested in
Wow ! Never thought it would happen "so soon" lol.With Lou out I feel like its more likely we see an Islanders rebuild. Could see one of or both Horvat/Barzal getting moved. Both the Habs should be interested in
Horvat, Dobson and Pulock should be interesting players for the Habs.Wow ! Never thought it would happen "so soon" lol.
Had to check.
Lou is really gone !
I'd be happy if we pulled one of themHorvat, Dobson and Pulock should be interesting players for the Habs.
Wonder how we could build a package of picks prospects and roster players for a Horvat + Pulock duo.
2C = CCI'd be happy if we pulled one of them
But give me the 2C please !
2C = CC
CC = Casey Cizikas
Well you don’t have a baseball team anymore so I can’t offer CC Sabathia.
No brainer for the Isles, but the Habs will never offer that. A younger and better Horvat went for a mid 1st and Raty, he's not worth more now that he's older and has an expensive contract that goes until his mid 30s.If MTL could add Horvat without going into its core or tip top prospects they shoukd do it. If it took two mid firsts and Beck that’s a no brainer.
He went for that because he was a free agent to be. It wasn't because of age. Free agents always, most get 2nd round pick, or 1st round pick and like B prospectNo brainer for the Isles, but the Habs will never offer that. Can't wait 3 years to get a 2nd C and Hage is on the way in 2 yearsMontreal really needs to draft centers this summer.
No Lundell isn't being moved by Panthers even if they resign Bennett who will take a cheap deal or they will let him go. Lundell is everything to them especially their coachAny chance Lundell can be pried away from the Panthers in some way?
They both have trade protection so you can cross them off the list.With Lou out I feel like its more likely we see an Islanders rebuild. Could see one of or both Horvat/Barzal getting moved. Both the Habs should be interested in
No one knows now until they get someone running the ship. Personally would like to keep both but the new hockey ops could want to strip it down instead of Lou remaining with the status quo.They both have trade protection so you can cross them off the list.
Yeah Horvat as a Canadian player must be so horrified by the idea of playing in MON. I guess NYI is so much better at the moment.They both have trade protection so you can cross them off the list.
Horvat was signed like 5 days after the trade was made, that price was paid with the Isles knowing full well that an extension was a realistic possibility.He went for that because he was a free agent to be. Islanders have no reason to trade him baring overpayment. Teams trade for free agents all the time having already starting extension talks with them and either get extension talk done some day or days later. So Islanders paid price for him like he was a free agent.Horvat was signed like 5 days after the trade was made, that price was paid with the Isles knowing full well that an extension was a realistic possibility.
That said we see how well it's doing Buffalo to hoard assets, not sure I'd do Beck + 2 1sts but I'd probably bite on Beck/Kapanen + 1st + 2nd or Roy and 2 1sts
He signed an extension (an expensive one at that) with them, he wasn't traded as a rental. Asking for an extra mid round 1st when he's gotten older and has a concerning contract by the end of it is unjust.He went for that because he was a free agent to be. It wasn't because of age. No, they didn't. The trade wouldn't have happened if Lou couldn't talk to his agent ahead of time and get a good idea of what a contract would look like, don't be obtuseIslanders have no reason to trade him baring overpayment. You don't get what I am trying to say, so instead od coming here and attacking someone, learn to freaking read. Backroom deals, talks happen all the time. So yeah, I was saying Islanders mostly were talking with him days before, day of deal and it took a little time for everything to be finalized. Again, don't criticize / attack until you read and understand what someone is sayingNo, they didn't. So you're saying I was right and the Isles paid that price only after knowing what an extension would look like and that it was palatable to them? Exactly this!The Habs just finished the season with 68 points and were one year removed from a 55 point season, there was no reason to trade for a more proven centre at the time since the team sucked ass.
Even in hindsight it was better for the Habs not to do that.
- Who knows which PLD the Habs would've got, the LA version or the Winnipeg/Washington version. Given he would've been stuck playing with guys like Newhook, Anderson, Armia and Gallagher on the Habs second line, my guess is his point totals would've looked like the ones he had on LA.
- Calgary exceeded expectations, so the Habs got the 16th pick this year instead of getting Florida's
- Habs' re-signed Monahan for centre depth and got a first round pick for him from Winnipeg.
- Habs finished with 76 points last year and ended up with Demidov at 5th overall, adding PLD would've added a few more points and made them pick later.
