The thing about Mario is he's signed for another year and a reasonable cap hit. I only mentioned Iafallo because the surface numbers didn't match the contract so I included him as a cap dump.
jets will have close to 14 million on cap space at the deadline, iaffalo is overpaid but he is still a useful player and we can afford him this season

Ferraro is the kind of defenseman the Jets would trade a 1st for I suspect, because they don't have the prospects on defense short term to count on. Granlund for Chibrikov is a good trade for both sides, where you get a scoring winger with lots of term. And the Jets get a top 6 center, good skater for the immediate run. Someone who could keep up to Ehlers in the middle of the ice. I think the Jets can manage because contracts traded are pro rated I believe, so you only pick up 25% of them at the deadline.

To put them over the top. With Hellebuyck having a Hart trophy season, I think they need to go all in this year and add these pieces at the deadline. What's your offers?

Zibanejed or Nelson would fit in nicely as #2C.
Zibanejad has a full NMC until March 1 2030, and a young family in NYC. I’d be surprised if he waived to go Winnipeg. Surprised might actually not be a strong enough word.

At the same time, even though Zib’s bounced back since earlier this season, I doubt Winnipeg wants to take on that contract.

It be well worth it
Yager would undoubtedly end up as a top 6 RW
I'd think about Granlund and something small-moderate for Yager, but for that package you may as well trade for picks to try to move up and draft someone you like better than Yager.

As I said earlier. Yager should make for a top 6 RW. I was really hoping the Sharks would have retained enough on Karlsson to have had Yager included in that deal.
I don't know if there's anyone likely i the later half of the 1sr round I'd rather have.

No, OP did and he's not a Jets fan.
The Jets Top-4 D are set with Morrissey, Samberg on LD, and DeMelo and Pionk on RD.
We need a 3LD, doesn't have to be Top-4 D.
We need a Top-6 forward, though, possibly a 2C.

1 we have jones who is blocked atm and who is blocking Mancini
he shoots left but plays either side
separate discussion on him is constructive
what do you offer?

2 zib
we all saw he was sub putrid for like 6 wks and now since Christmas has largely returned to form
It is correct to say he has full nmc and is disinclined to waive

that said, Rs need over next season to get younger, deal bread, fox, shesty for top $$$ returns
IF he sees the core is going, whether he likes it or not, he may waive.
He will also understand we have to pay him, we don't have to play him, and if he resists R efforts to moderate vs getting too old overnight by dealing vets, we can simply sit him, which is not a good look that benefits anyone.
At some pt I think he waives for a preferred relocation destination.

That said, I don't think he accepts interior either US or CAN, and prefers EC to WC.

What I see is per another thread
Bs may be listening on Marchand out of need
but also March as ufa might do a chapman to cubs for Torres and return to Yankees

so, separate deal, 3 way:
Marchand to jets
zib to Bruins
futures to Rs

discuss

Top rentals go for 1st + B prosect... no way in Hell would Chevy (who doesn't trade prospects under almost any circumstance) agree to including Lambert, Yager or Salo in that kind of deal

If we're talking about a younger guy with some team control who maybe needs a change of scenery, then absolutely

You asked for a 2C and a Top 4 . . . that's gonna cost
Pelech is not a top-4 D on the Jets.

Nelson is a pure rental, so his value is not nearly that package.

I think the Jets could offer something like a 1st and B prospect or one of their prospects and a 2nd or 3rd for Nelson. Isles get to keep their top-4 D with term.

1st (2025) and Freij (2024 2nd rounder)

or

Chibrikov or Barlow and 2nd or 3rd

Basically a 1st + 2nd value for Nelson rental seems as high as the Jets would go. They would go higher for a similar player with at least another year of term, like O'Reilly.
