Not sure.

#19 has Joe Thornton and Doan in the top 10, but #26 has two 1,000-point guys (MSL and Elias). #12 has Iginla and Marleau and Gaborik all over 700.[/QUOTE]

Vanek and Wheeler also wear 26 and they aren't half bad players either!

Well, if we're looking back, there's none better than #9. Maurice Richard, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Pavel Bure, Mike Modano, Glenn Anderson, Lanny MacDonald, Dick Duff, Ralph Backstrom, John Bucyk, Clark Gillies, Adam Graves, Paul Kariya, Kirk Muller, Russ Courtnall, Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise... the top end, at least, is top drawer.

Wasn't Bure 10? But you can add Vladimir Krutov.

Meh, for me the original OGs

I doubt Yzerman would agree with that assessment. 19 Trottier (Yzerman's idol) / 91 Goring. When you think about it, that was a very similar combination. The Red Wings centers were better (Trottier = Yzerman, Federov >> Goring), but then, they didn't have the all time great winger.

I chose 19 because of Sakic (Croatian heritage like me) and Yzerman (great leader) , but often had to use 91 like most kids, since 19 is so popular.

Now imagine if #9 was available when Gretz started playing...

Teams retire their numbers way too easily in the NHL. Soon all the low numbers will be gone.

They're pretty good.

Keep in mind though...91 is one of "those numbers"...what I mean is it has come to have a certain pedigree and generally is only used by players who have the potential to do it justice.

Relative to their statistical success then yeah. What's the most common number used in the NHL and what do the stats add up too? I'm to lazy to look, haha.
