How has Gerbe and Sekera been for you guys so far?

Gerbe has generally impressed as a middle-6 winger. I think everyone's pretty satisfied that he gives us good value for what he's being paid. There were some questions whether he'd make the roster but he seems like a lock after scoring both goals in a 2-1 win last night.

Sekera has been ok, can't say I really have a strong opinion on him at this point.

I feel Gerbe has been solid considering what kind of a player he is. He's a great pest and if you watch both of his goals from yesterday, he's not afraid to crash the net.

Sekera has been invisible to me. Ive watched almost every game and haven't noticed him at all. I've heard his name called out during broadcast and I've never noticed where he was.

Love me some Gerbe so far though. Hope he gets a Harris Teeter sandwich this year.

For a Hurricanes defenseman, that's a good thing.

If you don't notice Sekera, he's probably doing his job. I tend to only notice Hurricanes defenseman when they are embarrassing themselves in some way.

Good to hear they are playing well. Both are easy players to root for. Sekera plays a solid game and every now and then goes offensive beast mode. Gerbe is Gerbe.

Now now, apparently he reads these boards:

@ice_chip
McBain said he read comments made about him after trade, about not being in good shape last year and being in "doghouse" with Canes.

You'd be shocked at the number of players who read the boards. But yeah.

Doesn't make our assessments right, but also it doesn't make them wrong either. And when it's been a seemingly recurring theme each pre-season... and with reports of the same issue from the team he spent the lockout with...

That's not to bash on the guy, thing is that perception is reality.

What little bit of Sekera's games I've seen so far, I liked. He's definitely been invisible in a great way. I do think he's been quietly effective in the O zone as well. He's not going to be an offensive stud, but he won't kill you and will make enough smart plays to get some decent points. Hopefully he'll stay a little more healthy than he has in the past.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think Gerbe has done something to stand out on almost every shift he's out there. Being a pest, driving the net, scoring, he just goes all out. I hope he can keep it up. He seems to be versatile and driven.

The comments about McBain were probably the ones in the paper and online articles made by ownership and the coaching staff. Not our idiot ramblings.

So Dvorak has gone from "out of a job" to "tryout contract" to "might make the team" to "likely to make the team" to "top line right wing".

Any STH posters here have pair of tix for tonights game in a 300 level section, either row "A", or row "B" without obstruction, that they are interested in selling?

PM me if so, please, thanks.

Given that it's preseason, you could just as easily pick up seats in the general area for <$10 on Stubhub and then sit in an empty seat on the front row.
