The poster you are talking to just wants any Russian players to succeed, you are correct that Chayka was poor for most of the game.
He was poor last season in the AHL also, and Darren Eliot pointed that out too. Apparently he had a decent rookie camp though.
Probably from Cassidy's perspective, outside shooters are a dime a dozen and Chayka didn't really do much other than his one outside shot during the game. We all want the kid to succeed, but he sure didn't win a spot on the roster tonight. Dorofeyev by contrast would fully in the system and spent much of his time trying to work it down low.
Comtois looked confused most of the night, which is probably understandable coming from the Ducks, but he did seem to want to try to hustle. He would be a solid addition if he can fit in and get back to what he is capable of doing. But that's the big question isn't it?
