not really deserved....it seems, that the team europa are underrated and the czechs are overrated so far ;)

How are we overrated lol? Almost everyone thought we would fail badly in the tournament, if anything we are "rated" just about right.

THis is a fun fun game :) dont mind the lack of physicality everyone seems to be missing, on the contrary. Clean, skilled plays.

Is hockey dying in Czech Republic? I read an article that talked about the fall of Czechoslovakia and how less focus was put into the sport after, thus lowering the quality of the country.

People are still interested. Still if we were so active in criticizing and supervizing moves of czech hockey federation as we are in supporting national team, things will be ok. Instead of it our hockey representatives are looking for excuses about mentality etc. Money are there, fans are there, just this stupid unprofessional enviroment....its getting slowly better though

I wouldnt say that, its still (and will continue to be) very popular, though maybe a bit less popular than footbal unfortunatelly... Aside from football its also competing with many individual sports, especially tennis. Hockey is generally too expensive and time consuming for a lot of kids (and their parents) to pick up, it is simply easier and cheaper to go for some other sport.

I hope it'll get better. I like Prague and your beer.

I see some progress last years. We have good young players again. We won Hlinka memorial and we have some more medals from U18 tournaments. I think we can win WJC this year. ;)

But I want more chances for young players in Extraliga. For example Kase plays 9 minutes per match like fourth center :(

My god this Czech team is brutal. Forwads never shoot, defensemen are slow, only Mrazek is a bright spot. I thought PK would be our strenght considering how many quality 2-way forwards we have (Palat, Plekanec, Hanzal, Frolik, Sobotka...) but it's awful, team Europe is all over us.

No it's not. Work with youth got better, junior national teams do better than they did a few years ago, a lot of money going into the youth development.

True. Kase (along with many other czech juniors) better go to NA next season, his talent is wasted in Extraliga.

Yes, very little amount of money goes into the sport in here. It's almost a miracle that we aren't any worse yet. Concretely lack of finances in the youth categories, starting with the youngest ones. It's privilege of the rich families to send a kid to play hockey in the Czech Republic so we paradoxically bring up the worse kids just because their parents have the money... poorer families with the kid that has way more talent unlike the "silver spoon" ones simply don't have enough money to properly support their kids and they have to end their promising careers very soon or they don't show up on the rinks at all. That's how we do in Czech Republic, sad story.

I usually root for CZ, but this time Team Europe needs to win so US is out of the tournament.

Don't understand why we didn't take the risk and ice some young offensive d-men like Zboril. I mean, they can't be worse than Kempny lol.
