This is it, folks. Day 1 of The Rivalry as a divisional battle. I literally cannot think of a single game that could mean more than a preseason showdown between the Canes and Jackets. This thing is going to be all-out war, starting in the warmups and ending in the sports bars during the wee hours.

Let's just hope the Raleigh PD bring the paddy wagon tonight. They're gonna need it.

It's already started, just got stuck behind 20 buses bringing Blue Jackets fans into town, I assume they are already at the arena and tailgating because they're better at it than we are.

I woke up this morning and stopped at a McDonalds for some coffee and I saw that the store owner was from Ohio and refused to support his store and went to Dunkin Donuts which was 4 miles out of the way and $1 more.

You have to do what you have to do.

Ward hasn't played since March, so I'm expecting a 3 or 4 goal-against first period. Once Peters comes in mid-way through the floodgates will open.

13-1 Columbus.

Bowman scores the lone Canes goal and gets a season ticket for the first line wing.

Is that a dis? Are you dissing us? That sounds like you're dissing us!

Let this mark the official beginning of the rivalry. Consider this post to be a virtual beer poured over your head. Jack Johnson is our old dirty sweat sock, and Rick Nash never loved you.

You guys are going to get the preseason beatings of your lives!

p.s. you got lucky at Antietam and Gettysburg.

I hope the team is jacked up to avenge their loss at Traverse City. Aside from the playoffs and regular season, the preseason is probably our best chance to one-up that tournament in terms of importance.

Don't make me channel the spirit of proud Ohioan William Tecumseh Sherman.

"Matt Kennedy posted two goals and three assists and Jeff Skinner put up a goal and four assists as the prospects of the Carolina Hurricanes obliterated the Columbus Blue Jackets' prospects 8-1 on Tuesday night in the NHL Traverse City Prospects Tournament."

Nothing Columbus can do will ever top that victory, which will live for all eternity in the minds of hockey fans around the globe. 'Canes already won the rivalry long ago.

Always fun to look back on these games and see names that I don't even remember being on the roster.

(turns out Matt Kennedy was a non-scoring winger in the AHL and has now drifted down to the ECHL where his career will likely finish. This dude scored 5 points in a Traverse game.)

I don't care much about the score as long as we hear good things from some of these guys that are in a dog fight to make the team. It is great to have hockey back for four straight nights.
