Complaining wildly about individuals during our rebuild make people feel better. There's no excuse to do that when the team plays well. Everyone has something to say when the team struggles, few can be bothered to be supportive when the team wins.

I’d guess about 80% capacity. The real noticeable aspect is how silent the crowd is. There was literally no excitement pre game and very little noise even during the game.

I’ve been to several other NHL games in other arenas. The Rangers keep their in game experience very classy and MSG is tremendous since the update, but the in game experience has not changed in many years. They should go take a look at what Vegas does( basically creates a party from start to finish) and try and engage the fans a bit more during the game. Seems like the crowd last night was a bunch of corporate suits and I could only imagine how much more these guys would be spending if the atmosphere felt a bit more engaging.

I still love MSG the most—but that’s because I’m a loyal and lifelong fan. It feels like home— but the in game experience could be improved.

I was solidly in “send Chytil to Hartford” just prior to the last two games but now I’m not so sure. Yes, he makes mistakes but he’s learning fast and seems to be more assertive now with the puck on his stick wanting to and make plays. Actually it seems to me that something is starting to click for him re. where he needs to be without the puck and the rest just follows. Growing pains and all but if you’re paying attention you can see improvements.

The Rangers game in Vegas I attended in January was a spectacle. It was the most exciting hockey experience I've had in NA. One thing that always annoys me is how quiet crowds are in NA. As if they are watching a musical or something. Maybe it's just growing up in Europe where fans are more exuberant.

Not to side track the post game talk, but I went to Vegas v Edmonton in Vegas while out there celebrating a buddies bachelor party. The Oilers fans were about 50 percent of the crowd. One of the most amazing things I’ve experienced at a hockey game was when they sang the Canadian anthem from start to finish( I know there is a tradition of this) but I was loving their passion. Ended up, the Oilers won in overtime and I ended up in a dueling piano bar filled with Oiler fans parading around Connor McDavid posters and tipping many back in honor of their victory. It was really an experience.

How is Georgiev not a near-unanimous star? He wasn't exactly required to put together a highlight reel of saves, but 36 stops for the W is 36 stops.

Also, 3-5-1 really isn't that bad. I mean we could get slaughtered on this trip, but I don't think we will. I think the team is gonna be in most games this year.

Voted Georgie but it meant that Pionk wound up outside of my 3 stars which I think he fully deserves.

Speaking of Pionk (kinda), his game is what I’m hoping ADA should be doing for the Rangers.

At the game the PA (not the ref) announced the misconduct was for "continuing the altercation". Can't remember seeing that before. Smith seemed to disagree and rightfully so IMO.

He did not break up when the linesman came in and would not seperate after being told to do so by the linesman. Smith than proceeded to give the Linesman a tough time as he was escorted to the locker room. Refs won’t put up with that, nor should they! When Smith came out for the Third, he tried to talk to the refs and refused to enter the penalty box. The refs would not engage with him because of his actions during the altercation( I’m assuming because of the body language and aggressive waives they were making for him to get in the box—I was at the game too.) I honestly thought they were gonna launch Smith right there.

The rules are pretty clear on this one. Players separate once the linesman interseads and if the player does not they can be penalized. I fully support the penalty and this rule. The NHL can’t have it’s officials getting roughed up. It’s also a respect for the officials type thing so I doubt Smith earned any respect from the crew last night.

When people make more noise in a cinema than at a hockey game, there's a problem, both ways. That fans can't bring drums into the arenas to create their own atmosphere is just sad. Also, team chants are just braindead. It's the same boring chant for every team. "Let's go x".

Nice game btw, hopefully the double Zorros get going now.

Agree on both points. Also, the year we went to the SCF, we started off something like 2-6-2. Now, I am not implying that is remotely possible this year. But, for where this team is, it could be much worse.

As I said in the game thread, Mika playing like a legit 1C last night. He controlled the game. Was all over the place, and his SHG changed the momentum of the game. He has so much potential and if he can build from this will be huge.

It is RARE when I agree with you, but you are dead on here. MSG USED to be LOUD, obnoxious, and a GREAT place to attend a hockey game. Cheers, chants, screaming, atmosphere, everything you could want in a hockey game, without cute "amp-up videos", mascots, t-shirt tosses, music, and anything else you might find at a minor league baseball game.

The loudest I've ever heard MSG, and actually the loudest crowd I've ever been in was Game #6 of the 1986 Patrick Division Finals. It was all natural noise. No artificial crap pumped through speakers.

The NHL hated the politically incorrect, yet FUN, atmosphere inside most arenas through the 1980's and early 1990's, so they encouraged blasting music and "fan interaction".

If you yelled what used to be common at the Garden in the 1980's, you'd be arrested and probably sentenced to a short jail term.

That's the hope... although it may seem like he's been around forever now, he's only just entering his prime. If he can take that last step it would really take the pressure off Chytil and/or Andersson in the sense that they wont have to worry (at least in the early stages) about living up to the 1C hype everyone has bestowed upon them.

Another multipoint night for Pionk which pleases me greatly. The kid belongs here. He's getting a ton of minutes and making the most of them. He isn't a liability regardless of what the metrics suggest. He's played against top players and lines and hasn't been overwhelmed. Keeps things even keeled. And he produces.

Georgiev was great in goal. Nice rebound game by him. Hartford did him well this weekend.

Real nice to see Zucc shoot and score.

Terrific night for Zibanejad. He's hitting his stride. Crossing my fingers he remains healthy.

Zibanejad has always had the talent to be a good 1C for this team.

It's always just been a matter of not getting injured and missing 1/3 of the season.

This is unfortunately very true. It makes me sad when I make it back for games. Rangers’ games always feel so...subdued.

I believe that Garden fans don’t need the engagement stuff. It’s a more adult crowd than in other arenas, I’d guess. Maybe I’m projecting. But personally, I prefer to just focus on the game rather than having an amusement experience. I’m sure there are people who want the amusement experience, as well. But usually that’s families. And I’d imagine the MSG crowd is less family and more hardcore fans and business types. Just my impression. Maybe it has changed in recent years.
(Also, I don’t mean to imply one or the other is better or anything. Need all types).

Is it just me or does it seem like Zuc is kind of butting heads with the coach over shooting more, the second day of him basically saying hes not changing his game to be a shooter.
The guys deserved a win, hopefully they keep learning and getting better. The structure looks 10x better than it did to start the season.
