I assume Thomson is the guy? Could be Ranta too though. I like both. I had Thomson 4th remaining, but like Heinola, and Honka I just don't know who's going to get the lions share of Finland's D minutes

Thomson yes. Ranta is a great pick too, I expect him to have a big tournament. I just have a feeling Thomson is going to get high minutes on a 1st or 2nd pairing and PP minutes.

****ttt

By far my highest D left on the board.

But there are also so many points to go around for him, Heinola, Honka, etc. which worries me slightly.
Thomson should be the number 1 defenseman on the Finnish team. I thought about picking Thomson before I heard about Söderström.

E: I hope the first pairing is Thomson-Heinola

Zemgus had a good rule in his pool that I believe I've been using in the past but just noticed it wasn't in the OP so it's now been added, this is the warning.

If your previous skipped pick is still not made up by the time it comes back to you, you are auto-skipped.

Especially key towards the end of the snakes. If you haven't shown up since the last clock you burned we have no expectation of when you may be back so there's no reason to burn another 12 hours waiting. It also means the very end of the snakes don't get a 24 hour clock for 2 picks

On a somewhat related note, for next year what does everyone think about each person having a total clock for the entire draft rather than individual picks. For example say we start the draft aiming to be done in 12.5 days. That's 12.5 x 24 hours = 300 hours, divided by 10 people each person gets a clock of 30 hours for all their picks. You pick quickly early on you have more time later on if you need it. You burn 25 hours on 1 pick you better be quick in the future. Once your clock runs out for the draft you're skipped for every pick, and may pick as you are around with others on the clock. Ensures we don't run out of time, while not skipping picks when we're way ahead of schedule, and doesn't penalize 1 person who's normally very quick for 1 long delay.

I feel like it would get the draft done quicker.

Some people would take the full 30 hours. But then some people (like me haha) wouldn't likely need that much time at all.

But like Statsy said it may also lead to 24 hour pauses when 1 person is busy which sucks.

Good with either way, but I can see pros and cons to it.

We could also throw in a rule that for the first 8 picks your limit for that pick is half(or maybe 3/4) of your remaining clock. That way a person can't screw themselves over by ever completely burning their clock(and limits the single long wait time), but you're not waiting 10 hours on the same person every time. That's only really ever been an issue 1 time with the guy who intentionally burned his clock every pick though. And perhaps makes it overly complex

Keep it the same. I don't think we have had enough problems to change things.

And btw I'll take Nikola Pasic. I have high hopes for him.

Pm"ing next

I'm fine with current system, it seems to work pretty well. Haven't had any issues in the 3 or so years I've been in the pool.
