I would hope not. He needs to go back to Rogle to learn how to be an offensive producer. I think a big reason Kasper is considered to have questionable offensive upside by some is because his game isn’t focused on that. It’s not so much a matter of not having the skill but not prioritizing being an offensive star. He should spend this next year focusing on the scoring side of his game. He doesn’t need to be working on that in the NHL. It’s too hard when trying to adjust to the NHL pace to begin with.
You should not be picking a forward at 8 who has questionable offensive ability.

That's not necessarily true. The Abbotts let Seider play a first pairing role. They let Wallinder earn top 4 and then later top pair ice. And in the playoffs Marco Kasper went from playing 4th line minutes to playing 14-15 minutes a game. That's an SHL team that allows its younger guys to play if and when they earn it.

Remember that unless a 17-18 year old player is an exceptional talent or on a very weak SHL team they get 4th line minutes and are often put in more defensive roles. We saw this with Raymond in Frolunda and he turned out just fine. We also saw this with Fiala and Nylander in their draft years.

Also consider that we've got Kronwall over there working with our kids directly. I would much rather have Kasper working with Kronwall in practice and off the ice than with Ben Simon.

Yeah you’re right, Berggren really struggled in Simon’s system this year lol. Listen I like what Rogle has been for our prospects, but I’d rather have Kasper stateside. Partly because I do think he’s closer to ready than most. Because I have more control over his development. I want to force reps down his throat. I want him in a more physical league. I want him to learn how to get inside North American defenses.

Just personal preference. I know he’ll get awesome development in Rogle.

11points in 46 games sounds gross to me....

Kasper could be our Copp Deluxe

I don’t claim to know anything about the kid. Hope he grows into something great for us, but it’s a bit disheartening hearing everyone say he’ll make an awesome 2nd line center when he’s picked 8th. I’m sure I’ll grow to love the kid regardless

The current front office seems to have found a niche, making good reads on guys with smaller sample sizes who scare off other teams. Let's hope that streak continues.

It's not just that he's a 2nd line center...people are saying Shane Wright might just be a 2nd line center. It's going to be that he brings a style of play and tenacity that gets your team wins. He is going to be "our" 2nd line center and is going to chip in 50-60 points while being a pain in the ass to play against. He will be a fan favorite in absolutely no time, call me Johnny Bench.

Damn Kasper really is getting the low upside label. We practically sprinted up to the podium to get him... should say all that needs to be said.

Love the physicality and ability to play in all three zones. He had a lowered point total because he played in the SHL, which is a much stiffer level of competition. Give the kid a year and he might make some noise for us sooner than later.

The fans bitching about Kasper are the fans that would have bitched about Detroit picking Lundell. That's the kind of center prospect we're getting. Solid, two way play that will make the lives of his wingers easier.
