#87 Sidney Crosby Milestone Thread - History will be made (MOST FACEOFFS WON IN NHL HISTORY 2025-01-07))

You are really going to say that Malkin was better than Crosby based on a single post season where the Red wings game planned against Crosby and not Malkin?

Heck one can make a very good argument that Crosby was just as good as Malkin that post season anyways.
One can make a very good opposite argument.
I guess you take this game a bit too seriously old chum

Your assertion is extremely laughable really as here is how they stack up in their time together as Pens (taking out crosby's rookie season)

Playoffs same thing

Nice try though.

In the 2005-2015 time period I thought I'd never see another player hit 200 playoff points. Yzerman, Sakic, Hull, and Lidstrom couldn't do it. Jagr squeaked over. It seemed like a milestone reserved for the 80s Oilers.

And Crosby is about to hit it. Truly incredible accomplishment.

If you're interested in Crosby's excellent play at this stage of his career, here's a recent in-depth New York Times article.

Got one more assist to pass Sergei Federov for sole possession of 8th place in all-time playoff assists.
If he can keep this up a little longer, he has a great shot at 5th place all-time for both playoff assists (at 125, needs 130) and points (at 194, needs 202).

Posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating...there is a very real chance that even if the Pens lose, Crosby could finish this playoff series in sole possession of #5 in all-time playoff scoring. He already has 4 points in 2 games and only needs 7 more points to surpass Jagr.

During the past three games, Secondary Sid has surpassed Sakic, Jagr, Gilmour, Yzerman and Lemieux, and now sits 7th all-time in primary points (goals + primary assists) in the playoffs. Secondary Sid ranks 18th all-time in secondary assists in the postseason.

(In case the sarcasm isn't obvious, this shows why the "Secondary Sid" label, which suggests that Crosby gets a disproportionately high number of secondary assists, is false).

Sid is easily on track to finish 3rd in career playoff points. A phenomenal achievement for the era he played. I think he will finish north of 250.

maybe if they didnt get knocked out in the first round the past few years. Pretty low chance of that 250 happening now. Penguins also aren't even a guaranteed playoff team anymore so I'm hoping he gets 200 in this post season to seal it.

These 200 points are quite the accomplishment, shouldn't be understated. Top 5 all time scoring in the playoffs? Amazing feat.

And he's got years left in the tank, hypothetically he could get as close as #2, but i think he'll more likely finish #3.

Amazing player.
