Last two games, sure. The previous 10, no.This guy is single handedly carrying his team every night at the age of 37.

Not much else to celebrate. Passes Bergeron.
Yea i know, hardly his best milestone. It's more a testament to longevity than his face-off prowess. At risk of being a party pooper, he’s been #1 in faceoffs taken for some time now. This is a little like a goalie breaking the record for career saves well after he set the record for shots against… kind of a backhanded compliment.
Duplicates?
Would #800 have been possible?
Player A
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3
Player B
1, 1, 1, 2, 3
Eliminate the duplicates
1, 1, 1,1, 1,2,2, 2,3,3, 3
So player A has an advantage of 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3
Sorry but this is pretty misleading. How many of those #1 finishes were in the seasons where he played a fraction of his team's games?Crosby's PPG finishes:
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, 13, 16, 17, 19
Jagr's:
1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 12, 14, 14, 16
Eliminate the duplicates
Crosby:
1, 1, 1, 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, 13, 17, 19
Jagr
2, 2, 12, 14, 14
His faceoff prowess has actually been excellent.Yea i know, hardly his best milestone. It's more a testament to longevity than his face-off prowess.
These Crosby rules are getting crazy.
Why not just settle for reality where Player A and Player B both had 9 top 3 finishes, but Player B won 5 Art Rosses and played a minimum of 75% of the schedule in all nine of those seasons?
Sorry but this is pretty misleading. How many of those #1 finishes were in the seasons where he played a fraction of his team's games?
Almost no one would consider 22 games ranked 1st in ppg superior to 82 games ranked 2nd in ppg. Or equal to 82 games ranked first in ppg. But that's what you're doing by "eliminating the duplicates."
I have as much respect and admiration for Crosby as anyone else.. he doesn't need to be propped up by specious arguments like this.

Sure but it's only one metric, sorta like counting stats in the early 80's one can dig deeper for context on most any metric.Almost no one would consider 22 games ranked 1st in ppg superior to 82 games ranked 2nd in ppg. Or equal to 82 games ranked first in ppg. But that's what you're doing by "eliminating the duplicates."
Sure like the only player in NHL history to have his first 19 NHL seasons at a PPG+ rate.I have as much respect and admiration for Crosby as anyone else.. he doesn't need to be propped up by specious arguments like this.
He was so good on draws that Logan couture accused him of cheating in the 2016 SCF lolHis faceoff prowess has actually been excellent.

that changed quick! hahaNo player is going to carry every game especially on a bad team
PPG ranks are a better way to measure talent level though, point totals are more of what you've achieved in your career. That’s going beyond what “eliminate the duplicates” is meant to show. It’s simply a way of saying Player A and B have some things in common, but here‘s a list of things they don’t have in common.
That’s a fair criticism, not of eliminating duplicates but of using PPG ranks in the first place. Doing this with actual points finishes makes more sense as it accounts for sample size.
