GDT: #80 Our Team at Their Team | April 13th | 1:00 PM | F/Our Team 1-0 W

Doesn't another year of control help trades sometimes? For a contending team with an open Cup window instead of a team on their last chance? We can twist not trading JGP anyway we want...

Cizikas is also at 55.3 FOW%
The issue with trading Pageau likely was nobody else would have wanted his contract for 2 seasons without salary retention and it's doubtful Lou was willing to do that. When the calendar changes after the season ends Pageau becomes easier to trade.

It's our arch-f$%&ing-rival. Our guys mailed it in!

We've been watching them for months. This isn't some sport where they play 10 games a year and let them try and bounce back from a psychological standpoint.

If for nothing else, you have to make changes just to show the hockey world that there is some type of response to that. That there is a pulse of any sort.

If a veteran defensive pairing gets a -5 in a game like that.... THEY HAVE TO SIT!

That message HAS TO BE SENT!

You have tell that to your fanbase. You have to tell that to all the other players in the organization.

Even worse, how can a Roy even look the Reillys, Boqvists, and Perunoviches of the world in the eye and say, "Yep, that still wasn't enough of a bitchslapping to get any of you lot back into the line-up."

I guarantee you that the vast majority of decision makers out there in the hockey world would NOT have taken the route Roy took.

And for all the "organizational culture" stuff we've heard from Lou over the years - throw it out the friggin' window...

THAT has nothing to do with establishing or living up to the culture of success he's been constructing just about all of his statements around.

As a fan, I'd absolutely prefer seeing what Beckman, Jefferies, and perhaps even Maggio look like when put on NHL ice.

1000%.

I'd also like to be watching Boqvist and Perunovich out there because I wanna know if they can be a part of this thing in the future. I've seen enough of Mayfield and the current versions of Pelech and Pulock.

And I just detailed how I have zero desire to "watch" the majority of other guys at this point. I write this using myself as a sample 'cause I think plenty in the fanbase feel the same way.

I wonder how many have stopped buying tickets to the games.

When the games are meaningless in the standings, that's when you start giving them meaning by figuring some stuff out.

That's what franchises do every spring.

Why are WE different?

Overall Lek, a pretty defeatist post.

Played any competitive hockey yourself at any point?

I don't ask that as a slight.

It's just, every phase can be used to bring something to light. And the pundits of the hockey world can see that this organization, as it stands today, is a train wreck.

And it's not just "three games". Technical elimination or not, we knew this wasn't a playoff team before Nelson was traded. We definitely knew it afterwards.

The kids on the farm were eliminated by Valentine's Day.

This organization should have used the last 21 games of the season to be building on next year and beyond, if not just finding out what it's got.

Instead, we've had the pleasure to watching the MacLeans and Faschings of the world try to audition for some 14th forward position somewhere in the hockey world.

A slap in the face of this fanbase.
That's a lotta post.....

ok...fanbases really are not owed anything...as much as we wish we were. Players, some and for sure when the time comes......but not sure how much i would feel i owe too many of ours right now. Maybe playing them is punishment....should be. I might actually play two lines of offensive and three defensemen and make two of the others split time in goal.

None of us can guarantee a thing when it comes to what others would do, always love this approach. We can only guarantee what we would do, or like to do. I do not disagree that as coach i would have sat some players, or wanted to and didn't, for sure it would have been done a few time more during the year if i could. Ultimately we truly do not know what is or was behind the decisions. Even i could only speculate what i might have done if there.

As for our "adds"....could be they already know what they are doing with some of these players. At this point, nothing to get too riled up about. Could maybe want to keep them away form this mess. Personally, none of them impressed me to a point where i think they are part of a solution so i do not need to see them anymore than the "players" we have.

Yes, after the trade deadline, if executed properly, it is then that it would have been the time to look at players.....but Lou f*&cked that up did he not or his plan was f*&cked by Nelson not signing which in and of itself was likely a f*&cked up plan....Lou, go figure.

Competitive hockey.....sorry...just rec leagues, nothing professional....but i am by nature competitive, but not sure what that really has to do with anything. This season was pretty defeatest for a good part of the year.....tell me you did not watch games figuring more how we would lose it than win it.

However, if i were hired last week to take charge of this team, it is exactly what i would have instructed, play it out...for different reasons though who knows, maybe the same reasons, but that would have been the instruction to coaches and satff.....no explainations to the fans....or the coaches, just do it. There is an off season for explanations and i would clue the fans in then as to what my plans were as per how much i felt like divulging the details....and definately not until after addressing coaches and players and sorting that mess out.

Rough Season

Gives them flexibility on teams as well.

Lou seems just incredibly black and white and methodical**. Anybody thinks he's going to do anything but try to win every game? You have a game, you try to win it - there is no other way. I don't think the question whether it's good or bad long term enters his thinking.

**That was probably a strength in preCap days when you could keep players for their entire career and build a team over the long haul. Now with a Cap, free agency, etc., it's a weakness.

He's trying to win every game, yet still loses. You know what that makes him? A loser.

So adapt your old ass and get to winning.

Herm Edward’s “you play to win the game”

A situation in Newark occurred that called for a response but nobody rang the bell. Again. They were pissed off and didn't like what happened to Pelech but didn't respond. And this time Matt Martin was playing. Instead they snoozed their way through the rest of the game against a team that should have also been trying to pad their stats in a meaningless game.
What happened to Pelech? He’s quickly become injury prone.

I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to mean. Pelech's been the target of several suspension issuing cheap shots. Of course he gets injured. Take those away and he's got the same amount of injuries a normal defenseman gets. The achilles tendon tear cost him the most time.

He’s missed significant time pretty much every year.

Yep, he's damaged goods at this point.

But I never thought it was just because he's injury prone. He's fairly elastic and is highly involved, so danger comes with that.

All the head hits will have taken their toll.

He also puts himself in vulnerable positions due to being overzealous, and these days, out of position. I’ve seen a lot more running around from him the past two years than previous. Previously he had a controlled stoicism, his reads/anticipation were elite
