GDT: #80 Our Team at Their Team | April 13th | 1:00 PM | F/Our Team 1-0 W

Neither team had anything to play for, and it showed. Annoying to get three useless points over the last two games to hurt the lottery odds, but reality is, they’re probably picking somewhere 9-11 and not sure there’s too much difference in those spots.
Also, I think the Devils are going to be a quick out in the playoffs, they do not look very good.

At this point, other than finding myself disappointed about the ever decreasing shot at having a top 10 draft pick this summer, I'm just waiting to see which of our players are added to a World Championship team next month.

Holmstrom is clearly the best candidate right now. He's a lock to get an invitation.

Engvall and even Boqvist could be candidates there too.

Team USA likes to go with the young guys but for some reason I can see them inviting a rejuvenated Anders Lee.

Would have to think Team Canada would invite Dobson. Definitely a fairly typical guy for them to bring over.

Horvat would be a possibility.

No Team Russia, otherwise both Sorokin and Romanov would have a good shot of being invited.

Perunovich had a GREAT WC performance in the '23 event (8 points, +6 in 10 games). Wonder if they'd consider him despite this franchise's handling of him?

Stop getting points, you f***ing assholes. I feel like writing an email.
Pointless win. Makes no sense.

No-one can or should ever blame the players.

They are paid to play and, even if it might have happened somewhere along the line in NHL history, no-one is gonna convince a locker room to go out there for 3 hours and simply lose.

The players don't give a crap about draft positioning.

I may be stating the obvious.

Who we should blame is the coaching staff and management.:-)

There's no point in having Sorokin in goal. To be fair, I can imagine that Roy felt he'd give Sorokin a shot at getting win #30.

But there's little to be gained by doing anything but throwing Högberg and anyone else in the system out there and seeing how much they swim. Nothing to be gained with Sorokin right now.

And why aren't they rotating those healthy defensemen in there? Actually, how in all the holy f§$% do you lose 9-2 at home to the Rangers and then throw the exact same 12+6 skaters out there for the next game???

That's just absolutely brutal!

And for what???

And why isn't a guy like Beckman, who you traded for at the deadline, who can no longer play in the AHL, not up here getting a look? Or are you hoping that Hudson Fasching is gonna score goal #2 at some point???

WTF do you learn about any of the other 12 forwards currently been thrown out there every gosh darn evening?

We just got 2 meaningless points on the strength of Sorokin's goaltending and an assist-less gimme of a goal (Horvat's shot was great, but the turnover by Jersey was pure crap) in a game that did nothing for either team.

They interviewed O'Keefe on the bench and he basically said right off the bat that they just don't want anyone getting injured.

***

As I was watching the delayed broadcast yesterday, I thought to myself, "Do I even want to see these guys? I mean the only players here that I'm genuinely interested in seeing are Lee (hoping he gets #30), Gatcomb (good story), Tsyplakov (hoping he does something cool with the puck), Holmstrom (breakout player), and Martin (for nostalgic reasons). At least let us see some of the youngsters to get an idea of where they could be if actually playing with someone!"

There's like no real intrinsic value.

And then when you see the negative record Bridgeport established plus Worcester missing out on the playoffs, it all feels like this is the most pointlessly guided organization in the league.

hmm.....after a 9-2 beating, maybe Roy wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves....hell, maybe they wanted it...who knows.

As for bringing guys up, i am going to bet that is a Lou decision. To boot, what the hell is a three game look going to get you at this point...nothing.

No point to any of this really.....just play the last three games out and move on.

It's our arch-f$%&ing-rival. Our guys mailed it in!

We've been watching them for months. This isn't some sport where they play 10 games a year and let them try and bounce back from a psychological standpoint.

If for nothing else, you have to make changes just to show the hockey world that there is some type of response to that. That there is a pulse of any sort.

If a veteran defensive pairing gets a -5 in a game like that.... THEY HAVE TO SIT!

That message HAS TO BE SENT!

You have to tell that to your fanbase. You have to tell that to all the other players in the organization.

Even worse, how can a Roy even look the Reillys, Boqvists, and Perunoviches of the world in the eye and say, "Yep, that still wasn't enough of a bitchslapping to get any of you lot back into the line-up."

I guarantee you that the vast majority of decision makers out there in the hockey world would NOT have taken the route Roy took.

And for all the "organizational culture" stuff we've heard from Lou over the years - throw it out the friggin' window...

THAT has nothing to do with establishing or living up to the culture of success he's been constructing just about all of his statements around.

As a fan, I'd absolutely prefer seeing what Beckman, Jefferies, and perhaps even Maggio look like when put on NHL ice.

1000%.

I'd also like to be watching Boqvist and Perunovich out there because I wanna know if they can be a part of this thing in the future. I've seen enough of Mayfield and the current versions of Pelech and Pulock.

And I just detailed how I have zero desire to "watch" the majority of other guys at this point. I write this using myself as a sample 'cause I think plenty in the fanbase feel the same way.

I wonder how many have stopped buying tickets to the games?

When the games are meaningless in the standings, that's when you start giving them meaning by figuring some stuff out.

That's what franchises do every spring.

Why are WE different?

No point to any of this really.....just play the last three games out and move on.

Overall Lek, a pretty defeatist post.

Played any competitive hockey yourself at any point?

I don't ask that as a slight.

It's just, every phase can be used to bring something to light. And the pundits of the hockey world can see that this organization, as it stands today, is a train wreck.

And it's not just "three games". Technical elimination or not, we knew this wasn't a playoff team before Nelson was traded. We definitely knew it afterwards.

The kids on the farm were eliminated by Valentine's Day.

This organization should have used the last 21 games of the season to be building on next year and beyond, if not just finding out what it's got.

Instead, we've had the pleasure to watching the MacLeans and Faschings of the world try to audition for some 14th forward position somewhere in the hockey world.

A slap in the face of this fanbase.

It's unreal how Lou f***ed this team by at a minimum not trading Kyle and Pageau who not only we would get assets for but we'd be a worse team and have a better pick

God forbid a guy like Horvat, Sorokin, Dobson, Holmstrom tears an ACL in the last 3 games of a meaningless season and you are therefore f***ed for next season as well.

THAT is my sole reason for wanting to see the call-ups happen. If Bridgeport sucks that bad I don't even really care about how the call-ups perform, I just want to be proactive about the future.

JGP was not a UFA - be angry all you want, but those types of players are harder to trade at the deadline.

He can be traded at the draft or next deadline, rather easily.

Once you trade JGP, the Isles have serious faceoff issues. They lead the league in faceoff %, but that’s based on JGP and Horvat.

A situation in Newark occurred that called for a response but nobody rang the bell. Again. They were pissed off and didn't like what happened to Pelech but didn't respond. And this time Matt Martin was playing. Instead they snoozed their way through the rest of the game against a team that should have also been trying to pad their stats in a meaningless game.

The opportunity was there to rip the band aid off. Lou wouldn't do it.

Doesn't another year of control help trades sometimes? For a contending team with an open Cup window instead of a team on their last chance? We can twist not trading JGP anyway we want...

Cizikas is also at 55.3 FOW%

They have serious issues in all departments. What difference does it make trying to hang onto Pageau and Palmieri? So the team can have some semblance of trying to compete next season?
