The Caps can expose him since he'll have days left on his current contract, making selecting him basically worse than worthless as it'd get the Seattle media and fans hopes up.

Ovi would then re-sign with Washington at some point after the expansion draft.

Ok, no problem...but he's almost 35 years old...
We won't see this version of Ovi for other 10 years...
(Nothing against Ovi: he's a player I appreciate for real. I've many things against the franchise and the other guys in the roster in particular )
