Yeah, that was my gripe with Sam and Joe. Both completely missed that somehow.

Just to clarify for the all goofs that missed it:

Kreider was annoyed with Merzlinkins in between plays and talked shit after the goal because he kept slashing him behind the legs. Merzlinkins was trying to say he was up in the crease and it was a load of shit. The refs never call that and it is ridiculous. Slashes to the back of the legs like that are brutal. Sam and Joe missed this entirely because they miss f***ing everything and are awful at providing context that isn't delivered to them on a script. The booth could use some new lifeblood but that is a different conversation.

Also, the timeout was called because the Rangers needed to change up their cycle. The Jackets were shading Zib and the Rangers clearly wanted a play designed to get him an open lane for a one timer. There was a set play that they ran right after that timeout that enabled Zib to get a one timer off from the middle top after several passing cycles.
