I can understand not wanting to overreact but firing Vigneault is at least "due".

Can't overreact when it's due. If it wasn't for a tire fire situation in Montreal last seasonduring the playoffs, we would have been knocked out in the first round by almost any other team.

Montreal was a hot mess and we were too. Someone had to come out of that series.

Now both teams are off to the worst starts of all playoff teams from last year and teams in the mix this year.

I think complacency is clearly out of fashion for both clubs. We're in an easier spot with a bit better roster and an expired coach.

If we keep allowing the steaming pile of crap coaching to ferment by the radiator, at some point Gorton will have to shoulder primary blame.

The season definitely can still be turned around, but it comes in the form of the players playing up to their level (Hayes, Kreider, Buch, Smith, Skjei, amongst others) and despite AV's antics, or just through a coaching change and a complete twist (in which we likely end up somewhere like 7th and hope for a playoff run).

AV is at his best when the players are playing really well and he just sits back and doesn't mess with anything.

i feel so sad right now...i just dont see any way this team makes the playoffs with these decisions being made.
I mean, yeah, if a 1-6-1 team continues to trend in that direction with no turnaround then of course they won't make the playoffs. I believe that, barring injury, we are too talented to not make the playoffs.

The single reason Rangers was able to beat Habs was Lundqvist. Lundqvist faced the most shots and high danger shots out of any goalie during the 1st round.

He's always been that way. He either says "we", or "I"....never "they". Never shifts the blame; unlike our netminder...who's been known to deflect here & there.

This is beyond nonsense. Hank has shouldered the blame of the team for his entire career. I can think of maybe two instances where he didn't directly blame himself for a loss.

At any rate, LGR. Don't see anything changing yet, even with a massive loss tonight.

Montreal might just be the only team in the league more unskilled than us. Yes we were very fortunate to draw the Habs. But the Ottawa series was very winnable and was a big missed opportunity. It was very apparent that might have been our last shot at the Cup and AV with his horrific misuse of Skjei and Smith in favor of Staal and Holden cost us the series.

But I also think there is something wrong with this team that goes beyond AV and the system. Too many devastating playoff losses, blown leads, failing to take out a team when we have them backed into a corner, winning Game 1 and then losing the next, always having to take a series the distance. I think this franchise has a massive lack of killer instinct and it's why they are never able to get over the hump despite golden opportunities in 2012, 14, 15 and 17.

This dates all the way back to the Drury goal in Buffalo. There's really only been one constant. I know it's not fair to pick on Lundqvist like that, but a franchise player is supposed to come through in the clutch. Instead it's been one disappointing loss after another.

Oh the dramatics.

They weren't very likely to win the cup even if they got by Ottawa.

Then your memory is poor or you don't watch post-game pressers. He is constantly bitching about the organization of the team on the ice in front of him. I already stated that he often takes some blame (i.e. - I need to be better), but calling out the rest of the team is something he specializes in.

You calling my statement "beyond nonsense" is hyperbole and completely untrue.

At least we agree on one thing... and that is LGR

Top six lines in the NHL by xGF%.

This is a man playing ELITE hockey demoted to the 4th line. This is one of the most effective lines in the NHL over the last two seasons broken up again.

This is our coach. This is us. This is Rangerstown.
Hey guys, commenting from Jamaica in my honeymoon, just needed to say AV is an idiot. I’ve been following on my phone with the WiFi here being a little spotty. Still, AV breaking up the only line that has looked any good at all is ridiculous.

Problem is, if we fire him then chances are Ruff replaces him which is just more of the same.

I still believe with this roster that this team can be a contender. They just need to figure it out and not have their own coach shooting them in the foot. It’s getting ridiculous at this point. We literally lost a playoff series last year almost directly because of our coach’s deployment choices. Now here we are 1-5-1 the next season and he’s making even worse deployment and usage decisions. These are the tactics of a coach who doesn’t know what to do.

I’ll tell you what, if we don’t start rounding into form there’s two things on the horizon:

1. A coaching change
Or
2. A blockbuster trade

Still, have faith. The 2014 team started 3-7.

Going back to the beach now. Hopefully they have a good game tonight.

Just focus on Jamaica and don't even look at the Rangers. Be (un)pleasantly surprised whenever you return.

Oh boy, I am not getting into this discussion again but yeah, you are spot on.

You know.......this is so true. Its really up to the players themselves, to put their collective skates on the ice and stomp very hard. Whatever the line combos are......just play like hell and FORCE AV to leave everything alone.
My point......its up to the players, dont count on AV to doing anything special. Just play well despite him. Still shaking my head at Buch on the 4th. Unf***inbelievable.

I don't even own a TV. All I have is this laptop. As far as entertainment goes, I pretty much only consume youtube and hockey streams. Feels good.

Yeah, lots of youtube.

MLB's official account is f***ing amazing.

Hanks has always defended his team the best he possibly could. At times throwing a teammate under the bus could've been very easy do. Justtlook at how he didnt even mention how Shatty screwed up when the whole world knew it. And yeah, he screwed up as well and should've hugged that damned post.....he cheated or really thought play was gonna be called.....either way he shouldve hugged. He normally shoulders every loss, only ones i can think of.....is when we arent scoring.....and that is obvious.....no specific players mentioned.
