Serious question. Why do American sports never start on time?

It's ridiculous how late some games are. This doesn't happen pretty much anywhere else in the world. Yet in the US, a 6pm start time could be anywhere from 6pm to 7pm.

Pens were up 4-0 in the 2nd and gave up 5 straight for the OTL. The day is already won.

That team is all Crosby at this point. He needs to get out. He still has some elite hockey left in him. You'd have to severely deplete your prospect and draft pool to get him, but he could instantly make a handful of teams legit contenders.
Let him keep the pens from picking in a top5.

Start time is when the TV networks start getting their ad revenue. A 7pm start time has never meant a 7pm puck drop in North America.

I much prefer the European model of the start time meaning the actual start time...

What kind of mental shit is this?

So is there any defined time for puck drop tonight? It's hard enough following this team as a UK based flyer as it is, then some dumbass TV execs just make shit up when They feel like it.

Usually the puck drop time is 7 to 15 minutes from the posted start time, depending on what pre-game stuff is on the schedule. National anthems are always done after the posted start time, so puck drop will never be at the start of the broadcast.

Another brutal powerplay, but it started with a linesman needlessly tossing Frost from the faceoff and then dropping the puck before Farabee was ready.

And Sandstrom proves that he is garbage. Geez.
