I don't see Leevi as a trade chip.

It's a tandem league now. Forsberg is likely on his way out. The next step seems to be to sign Leevi to a bridge deal to be the second NHL goalie next year.

Sogaard is nowhere close. We don't have immediate organizational depth at the position next year, and it's difficult to get goalies since any in demand ones can pick their destination.

Whatever the reasoning and how logical it was…..that is the moment we threw playoff chances away.

Staios wants to "be patient" and assess the team, aka sit on his hands and do nothing all season? Fine.

But we were sitting 3rd in the division, within 2 points of 1st place, when he actively chose to make the team worse by demoting the best performing goalie this season in order to protect Anton f*cking Forsberg.

After 8 years of missing the playoffs, you finally have a guy making saves and winning games with minimal goal support while looking the par of an NHL goaltender and what do you do? Send him down after a shutout in order to protect the tried and true losing formula. Just infuriating.

Between the Chychrun trade, Perron contract, Amadio contract, hiring of Greene, refusal to do ANYTHING to help the paper thin offense and the ridiculous season-ending Merilainen demotion, Staios has made some truly unforgivable choices... Not unlike his predecessor who started his tenure by shipping away Zibanejad + 2nd for Brassard before processing to dismantle the core of Stone, Turris, Hoffman, Karlsson, Methot, Dzingel, Pageau, Ceci, White, Chabot, Ryan, Paul, MacArthur, Lazar, Anderson, full prospects/picks cupboard, etc.
