Idiots who want Forsberg in net. I salute you! Not! Forsberg does not have even basic technical skills for NHL. No rebound control, no ability to save second or third shots in a row, not athletic enough, not quick enough, not great at positioning, not reacting fast enough. Lucking awareness. Soft goals. Average glove and so on.

Holy man. Ruthless. Poor Anton. Teams need to hire you to make arguments against players that have elected to go to arbitration

Reminds me of Gustavsson when he first started here. Technical. Calm. Great anticipation. Great rebound control. As long as we don't have someone who is injury prione ruin his development and consistency , the same way Murray torpoedoed Gus's development, he could be the real deal

Merilainen is a stud, another brilliant performance by the 2020 draftee. He has been the most important contributor of that amazing draft class since he had to start where the veteran Forsberg was faltering. It’s his poise and fundamentals that impress me, a young Carrey Price had that type of demeanour at that young age.

The skaters in front of him are helping him immensely. They have been reading well off of each other, another testament of Virgin Merilainen’s on ice awareness. Keep it going!

I'll be honest. I think he's the real deal.

Like real real deal.

Fun fact, he has had over .900 sv% in last 7 different league stints in last 3 years. I didnt count the 2 relief starts in Ottawa 3 years ago.

Also fun fact, he stole starting position job from 2nd round pick Blomqvist who is now playing for Pitts. Leevi had 8 shutouts in 42 games that season.

I think we got the real deal.

I’d like to see them keep him up for the remainder of the year as an “audition” for a back-up role next year.

Always good to get a larger sample size but as of now it feels like an Ullmark/Leevi tandem next year would be ideal.

And he shall be Leevi, and he shall be a good man.

Remarkable anticipation, and another goalie where I don't hold my breath for every shot. Just wow
