You can just sense the confidence in this guy.
The question now becomes what do you do with Soogard?

Not really much of a question, Sogaard continues to develop in the AHL until he either gets picked up off waivers at the start of a season, or becomes a viable player. You can just sense the confidence in this guy.

Forsberg is the guy we got to figure out what to do with, when Ullmark is back, who gets sent down, personally I'd waive Forsberg, but I don't think the team has lost confidence in him the way I have.
Forsberg has been pretty bad, .286 quality start %, 4-8-1 record, that's not helping us make the playoffs and no team keeps three goalies up.Why waive him? You need 3 goalies to make the playoffs these days, let’s keep our good players. Hamonic included. Depth players make your team and Ottawa season has had huge games from by
The depth guys - Gaudette, Forsberg, Hamonic, Nerilinen, Kleven
I dunno man. Starting a rookie over a nhl vet on a back to back , that sends a message. Forsberg sees the writing on the wallNot really much of a question, Sogaard continues to develop in the AHL until he either gets picked up off waivers at the start of a season, or becomes a viable player.

If Levi wasn't coming off a shutout, I'd agree, but I think the shutout changes the dynamics a bit. Forsberg likely still sees the writing on the wall wrt next season, but I could see them still being ok with Forsberg as a backup that rarely plays.I dunno man. There's a argument to send Levi down and let Forsberg ride the bench, we could even call Levi up for the back to backs, but I have zero confidence in Forsberg in our net, getting him off the team makes us better right now.
Forsberg in net loses us games, there's no real value in keeping him, with how bad Ullmark’s injuries have been this season I think you keep him around because Sogaard is not an answer so Forsy is still a top 3 goalie. I’d start Leevi over him all day but I’d also keep him around in case Ullmark’s back gets bent
I guess we are seeing what the euro scouts saw.6'2 Finnish goalie another .... Aug birthday could grow a little still but yes wasn't ranked to go in this draft.
Most picks after the second round bust i'm not gonna pretend I know anything here but hope the kid works out, but I would love to get the reasoning on why he was taken here.
4orsberg is still better than 8ogard.Forsberg in net loses us games, there's no real value in keeping him,
It's 5ogaard. Have some respect.4orsberg is still better than 8ogard.
No, you have to take inflation into account. It's So9aard now. It's 5ogaard. Have some respect.
Roll with him as the starter until Ullmark is back
From there on, he should be the primary backup ahead of Forsberg
Do we know the extend of Foursberg and Ullmark friendship?
Is it Norris-Brady type?
Do we "need" to keep him?
Linus is the star imo and
Leevi is the future but...
Forsberg didn't play the next game after a shutout both times he had them this year.If Levi wasn't coming off a shutout, I'd agree, but I think the shutout changes the dynamics a bit. Sure, but the alternative option was a vezina winner who we just gave an 8 mil dollar extension to. That context makes a big difference when deciding who to start. If Forsberg had his shutouts when Ullmark was hurt, odds are much better they consider him for the back to back.Forsberg didn't play the next game after a shutout both times he had them this year.
I expect that when Ullmark returns that they will send Merilainen back to Belleville, but I also expect or hope that Forsberg would be on a short leash. Unless someone comes along that needs a goalie badly with no replacement in their org I think we are stuck with Forsberg until the end of the season & his contract ending. Waiving Forsberg this season could be an option if he doesn't soon prove he can win games at the NHL level.Leevi definitely gives this team some hope that Forsberg appears incapable of doing. The team plays like they believe he can have their backs.
I don't know if they'll waive Forsberg right away, I kind of doubt it with Ullmark's health issues, but Forsberg's only really hurt the teams chances for the most part this year, so it doesn't really matter who they put in there at this point imo.
I agree. I don't think he'll be kicked to the curb, but yesterday with Leevi getting back to back starts, it gave me hope the leash is very short with Forsberg.I expect that when Ullmark returns that they will send Merilainen back to Belleville, but I also expect or hope that Forsberg would be on a short leash. Why waive him? We can't afford to simply lost games because our goalie simply isn't good enough to win games. We have 40 games left. If Ullmark gets healthy, how many do you see him playing as Ullmark's back up? Give it 5 games and ullmark is good to go. That leaves 35. Maybe he starts 14? 6 or 7 of those are guaranteed losses based on how he has played since his double knee injuries. That's simply not good enough. Why waive him?
