7 Potential Destinations for Dylan Larkin

Philly, Montreal, Columbus, Winnipeg, Florida, Tampa, Dallas.

They’re all coincidentally the next 7 teams Detroit plays on the road. He will however return to Detroit (full time) sometime between these games and after.

I didn't know Larkin was thinking about moving. Some quick research would suggest these are the best options in the Detroit area:

East English Village, Grandmont-Rosedale, Green Acres, University District, Indian/West Village and Palmer Woods/Sherwood Forest.

The only way trading Larkin makes any sense is if the Wings can repeat what the Avs did with Duchene, and trade him for a haul after he's been pushed down the depth chart by a younger, future superstar 1C.

So, step 1 of the plan should probably be to actually draft a future superstar 1C. And then probably wait a couple of years for him to finish adapting to the NHL.

Some Monday evening reading for our hockey rumour mongers, Dylan Larkin was the latest name to enter the rumour mill — only to be shot down immediately — but that won’t stop us from speculating about landing spots for Detroit’s captain.

Here are seven potential destinations, along with several trade proposals: Dylan Larkin Doesn’t Want To Be Traded But If He Did … 7 Potential Destinations
Having Buffalo as a potential destination is ridiculous. They don’t trade for centers they trade them away.

Write down on a piece of paper the name of young players name that you for sure know your GM would slam the phone down and laugh... and say "Yzerman is nuts for asking that!", then realize trade talks start there.

Anyone who trades for Larkin needs to understand your team will lose the trade... significantly now and in the future.

That being said, the teams who want him don't have trade assets to acquire him.

Wings aren’t shopping Larkin, do any club phoning to pry him loose would have to grossly overpay. What team grossly overpays for a guy like Larkin?

IDK. He will be 29 this season. If Detroit can't get out of the basement with him, what good is holding onto him?

It could make sense to move him to a team who wants to win now in exchange for a future center prospect and something else

Clearly an idiot who knows nothing. But let me get his straight Dallas has to pay “Johnston, Hemming, Bertucci and a 2025 first” but Rangers only pay Lafreniere for Larkin as a 1-for-1? Wyatt Johnston is already out producing Laf. The other Dallas option is even dumber of Stankoven, Bourque, Bichsel and a 2025 first. Larkin is a good player not he is not that good.
As a wing fan I doubt Larkin goes anywhere. But you are absolutely right the trade offers make f***in no sense and just shows u how much people really watch the league as a whole. I doubt Dallas even accepts Johnston 1 for 1. Why would they. They get to control his deals and give him usage already. Same with Laf lol. Just won't happen. These hypothetical deals show either a lack of any awareness of other people's teams and prospects or just a lack of respect for what they will be trading for.

Anyways all nonsense. Won't happen. And definitely won't return Laf or Wyatt.

So basically, "this isn't a thing - but here's some empty hypotheticals about if it were a thing for some reason".

I remember a couple seasons ago there was a "mic'd up" clip of Larkin advising an official good neighborhoods to move to in Detroit (the ref/linesman had just been assigned to the region). So Dylan seems to have a good handle on where to go.

I can see Larkin asking for this down the road. He has lived his whole life in Michigan and his wife is also from there. They are/were trying to start a family there as we know from last year.

I also think he is a little lost in the shuffle of a bad team and is about as competitive as it gets. Only having been to the playoffs his rookie year has to be getting old. I don’t think he asks for a while yet, but I could see it later in his career. But it will be handled with a ton of tact, he is going to likely live in the Detroit area for the rest of his life for at least quantifiable chunks of time each year.

USA hockey is only going to satisfy bigger game itches for so long even with as much as he loves it.

My post was tongue in cheek as moving neighborhoods within the greater detroit area is the only context in which Larkin moves

At least everyone, seemingly, contributed to this person's page hits. Gotta love the clickbait.

My team is prepared to offer a few secondary pices that are easily as good as 2/3 of Larkin. If you won’t take it then not only is Larkin not that good but you are a bad poster and the team you root for isn’t good. Did I leave anything out of the hf trade board standard discussion?

Tough guy to get fans to agree on. Great player but not great enough for a franchise player return. But no Red Wing fan will agree to move him without one.
