Prospect Info: #69(nice)OA - Hurricanes select LHD Alexander Nikishin (Spartak - KHL)

Looks like Nikishin is recovered from his injury or SKA is saying we are getting our money's worth! Almost 66 minutes total played last 2 games...

Game Stats from last 2 Games:

Game 4: TOI-37 minutes

Game 5: he "only" played 28:55

Yeah, if not some miracle happens he will be out of the contract in a few minutes.
Do you have any guesses on how long it will be before he’s out of SKA contract, signed by Canes and actually landing in Raleigh and ready to practice/play? Probably at least 2-3 days I would guess? At Washington may be his first NHL game

He's probably out of his contract as soon as tomorrow. As to other things, I think it depends on whether he's injured or not.

Roman Rotenberg: in my opinion, Nikishin and Demidov should stay in Russia, in SKA.
He says they have a lot of mistakes, and we believe them, but they will send them to the AHL.
He gives the example of Podkolzin.
Roman Rotenberg: NHL club owners call players and say: come, any money

I can rationalize it for Demidov as he's only 19 (though I think he should come over). But if Nikishin wants to play in NA, it makes no sense to return to SKA. He's gonna be 24 this year, how much more is he gonna learn/clean up playing in Russia? It's getting close to now or never for him IMO.

I can say that Nikishin went out on the ice alone after the game, made a small circle around it, gave his stick to a fan and left. I think that was how he said goodbye, so expect him in Carolina.
Were you the fan who got his stick?

Seriously, bummed for SKA fans to lose the series and likely their captain. Obviously as Canes fans we want him here and he’s ready for the NHL but watching a fair amount of SKA games lately I’ve grown to like their fan base. Had some great crowds these playoffs

Not me of course, I hate SKA and everything connected with this team ))
But I respect Nikishin, because he started his adult career in Spartak.
And about the fans, believe me, almost everywhere in the KHL there are such fans, and in most European championships too.
It's just that the culture of support from fans in Europe and in North America is different.

SKA has the best organization in the KHL by far. The team probably earns more money than spends, which practically impossible in Russia. Rotenberg made a lot of good things for the team. As a manager. It's just coaching isn't for him.

hockey isn't for him, making people laugh at press conferences after games - that's his thing.
After every game, listening to how his players were almost killed on the ice, almost disabled, that they were out for the rest of the season, and then they play a week later - it's so funny every time.
I'm waiting for Deangelo to tell everyone in North America about what happened in SKA, I think it will be incredibly funny.
