What an absurd over-the-top explosion on an open ice hit. If that happened in the NHL, he'd certainly get the other team a 2 minute bench minor for complaining at the lack of a call or suspension.

I wonder if KHL refs have a dual penalty approach: one for players that are staying in the KHL and one for those that are leaving

I would imagine there aren't a ton of hockey players at the top levels that don't have some sort of concussion history. Even with more protocols in place (maybe not in Russia, no idea) I'm betting there are still loads of undiagnosed ones.

They let him play out the game because they don't care about his long term health anymore. He won't even be in the league next year, so if they just negligently allow him to develop a career impacting complication... Oops
Only positive is that Nikishin gets to rest for a bit....team has been riding him hard with re: to minutes this year.

It used to be a lot worse, part of the cause of the DPA era was the IHL and other development leagues (really men's leagues) brutalizing prospects to the point they were already broken down by the time they were 20. Patrick Stefan is well known as one of the biggest draft busts of all time, what's less well known is he suffered 3 concussions before he turned 18, including one that forced him to sit out for 6 months.
