Vlasic is probably the best defensive defense-man in the league (if not, top 3). That play there showed one reason why.

Are you really comparing us to the Hawks or Kane to Nash for that matter? Toews on his worst day is better than any center that we've had since Messier.

rangers are consistently the one team that always takes that 1/2 second more to gather the puck before shooting off quick passes. I watch every other team every night pull the trigger in that situation and score. EVERY NIGHT.

good play by Vlasic, sure. but McD gave him the opportunity to make the play by not pulling the trigger sooner.

Nash is a giant ***** with no heart. One of the most overpaid players in the league.

I'm not comparing us to the hawks. Just showing how insane the "every contender needs a top 10 center or they suck" myth that a lot of people throw around. Toews did just about nothing in the playoffs last season.

Still, our center depth needs a significant upgrade.

Unfortunately, Stastny will not be that upgrade, and will just further handcuff us with a contract for a player who won't hit expectations (still hoping we don't sign him).

I want a Getzlaf, Crosby, Backstrom, Kopitar, Tavares, Datsyuk, Malkin, Benn, Toews, etc, caliber center.

Basically, I'd do anything to have a legitimate 1st line center.
