Would like to see Helleson and Mintyukov get a longer leash. They’re being sheltered pretty hard.
Honestly playoffs are kinda out of the picture… really no reason all 3 pairings arnt over 16 mins a night….

Helleson and Mintyukov are still guys that are supposed to be being developed.

Only thing I’m okay with is maybe giving lacombe higher mins to see how he fares as a more true #1… which he is averaging almost 24:30 mins a night this month and looking pretty much the same if not better

Well, at least the Leo bashers will be quiet tonight.

Leo is going to get a lot of criticism because he is not Adam Fantilli. A lot of Ducks fans wanted Fantilli.

All he can do is keep getting better and become that Elite 1C he has the potential to become. But don’t think he can take that next step with Cronin at the helm.

I was on fantilli boat (but also a giant Michigan university sports homer)

But their production not even that far off from each other… and I think Leo has a lot more to grow/develop. As a team columbus has scored 36 more goals than Anaheim…. Once we start scoring more a lot of young guys stats will raise. From what I’ve seen at nhl lvl I feel confident Leo will end up the more dynamic/dominant player

Hard to rack up points on a team with a completely dysfunctional power play.

I don't think that's it necessarily - the criticism because he hasn't taken much of a step this year.

and I also don't think anybody is or ever has really bashed him - i pretty much wholeheartedly disagree with that sort of characterization. Bashing him would be saying he's not gonna ever amount to anything and pretty much giving up on his future potential at this stage. Players of his pedigree are going to be criticized and should be criticized. Nothing he's received approaches anything like the criticism that'd be levied by Rangers, Habs or Leafs fans.

There's very little appreciation for nuance with things like this - Things aren't always all this or all that.

Little context in the criticism. He’s very young, not close to physically mature, and playing in an environment that isn’t optimal (coaching and linemates).

Leo is going be a power #1 center banking 60 to 80 points a season. And that's perfectly fine by me.. He needs to bulk up and will.. He's a smart kid

I don’t think anyone is ignoring that - that’s why people are still very optimistic and aren’t concerned long-term. Standards are higher for can’t-miss prospects.

To me the criticism hasn’t been harsh or unfair - so sometimes I wonder if the only acceptable alternative or implication is that any amount of criticism just isn’t allowed or welcome.

People including myself are always gushing over his great plays which they should be - the praise is there in spades for him.
