Fun, very different style of game, bitching about various things to bitch about aside. I'll sign up for finishing out the season doing this and finishing 12th as opposed to nose diving and finishing like 8th.

That’s like me blaming my mom asking me to go to the store to get milk for some drunk driver crashing into me when I was on my way there
its actually not like that at all.

Its more like going out to drive on an icy road....then blaming the road when you didn't need to go out in the first place.

So far the refs are :
  • Not calling clear penalties
  • Missed a offsides
  • Taking out players
  • Not clearing sticks
Seems like exactly that.
They do this sometimes, just nearly as much as when Kerry Fraser and Mick MaGoo were running wild not calling shit because GRIT

I thought the slash on Strome was pretty weak. Then Howden gets dragged down by somebody--the most obvious call to be made all night and no call.

The Rangers playing pretty well though. Hopefully we can win this one.

Ya cus he was gonna score 60 points I guess. I wish they would have a policy that all prospects start their career in Hartford.
iirc Detroit did this for a while and it worked well... until it didn't.

That said, ALL the youngun forwards the past 2 years except I think Chytil in year 1 shoulda started the year in HFD and visibly so. Maybe Andersson this past year shoulda made it if we were being charitable.

He just turned 19.
Did he age backwards since the summer or is Scandella just a fitness freak? I just rewatched some of the WC footage. His motor looks like it is running at 2x like those old Shaw Brothers movies that play overcranked. His confidence is sky high. I think the more plausible explanation is that he hasn't fully adjusted to NA ice. He wasn't as dominant as I recall but he was able to use the space to create separation between the defenders and the puck. That + the confidence thing, I think we are seeing a different player. That is where the whole 19 y.o. statement is valid. Just a blanket declaration of his age is not a rebuttal though.

I've noticed that this season, the refs/linesmen don't ever clear sticks or helmets while the play in action. What is up with that? I always thought they would do that as a safety issue.

That is a penalty at every level.

If the game of hockey was brought to some part of the world that had never seen it, and they weren't given a list of infractions that their referee should be calling during the game, this would still of been a penalty there.
