What do we think Atkinson would require to dump next season? Obviously, they shouldn’t pay because they’re rebuilding. But as a thought experiment given recent events.
A hot streak and some effusive Torts praise and I could see him netting a 3rd at the deadline next year. Heck, maybe even this summer for a smaller or no return and max retention.

Netting a 3rd! The Flyers can’t trade for him.

He’s not NHL caliber anymore, will be 35, having a career worst year, and making $5.9MM. He’s as dump as dump gets. To trade a positive player like JVR, teams asked for a 1st from a team that just finished bottom 4. They could eat half Atkinson’s contract and still need to pay. Fortunately, he’s too valuable to Torts to trade.

That conference final, the home team won 1 game.

Won 4 Game 5’s on the road
I checked, too. Road teams won 17 of 26 games that Calgary played in 2004.

It is a distant memory but I am almost 100% certain Barry Melrose said "The Philadelphia Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup...." following game 6 against Tampa Bay. We knew something would go wrong, even then.
