Prospect Info: 60th Overall, Albert Johansson, LD

He looks tremendous, did not expect this at all. Carried the Ed pairing last night
People keep saying this and honestly, its not like Edvinsson is playing any worst he's just not playing with a useless partner.

The pairing is really good. We're not use to seeing legit 2nd line unit/fringy 1st pairing guys since what? 2012? Longer maybe idk even.

Edvinsson had a case of the yips trying to handle the puck last night. He seemed a little slow or indecisive with the puck and on a couple of occasions had a case of Rasmussen hands. Very uncharacteristic compared to how he normally plays.

Yep not this best. The incredible thing about Ed is his ability to recover. It’s remarkable

Had that one moment late on a dump in where DeBrusk basically ran him down to the puck in the corner. Worst I have seen Ed skate. It makes me think he is either nursing something from that ankle shot he took recently, or he is one the sick crew right now.

Ed is probably one of the guys who could use the break the most.

Al Jo had a few shifts with Seider on Saturaday night. In particular I noticed them together in the closing minutes trying to maintain that lead.

That was the exact play I was thinking of when I said he looked indecisive at times.

I am guessing Trent Yawney wanted to ring his neck for letting Stephenson get behind him late in third last night.

Learn from it AlJo, we all still believe in you.

How big is Albert? I’ve been to two sites that list him at 6:00 168. He’s been that size ever since I can remember. He has too have put on a few pounds.

Liking what I've seen from him under McLellan in particular.

Its amazing what happens when a coach doesn't galaxy brain it and just plays the best available players instead of "this guy is a long time veteran so we play him no matter what".

Looking like he's becoming Yzerman's first hit from outside the 1st round with us. Looking for Wallinder, Lombardi, and Mazur to get there too at some point.

Love that some of you have found out what a great player he is.. ;)
Still anyone that hold Wallinder higher?

He was great in SHL, great in AHL.. He just needed an honest chance

Wallinder? He hasn’t looked great in GR in my viewings. He’s been too timid. The puck rusher I saw in Rogle isn’t rushing any pucks.

Johansson has definitely jumped him and looks to be a better every day NHLer unless Wallinder starts playing like he’s got a pair. He looks more and more like Kindl.

Thats what I meant yet some on the board was very quick to write AlJo off as a bust and hyped Wallinder.
As someone that always said Albert was the real deal it's nice and kinda fun to have a "told you so" moment since I went bust on a couple of other SHL players that did not transfer to the NHL in a good way. :)

Been totally impressed with his body positioning and stick work along the boards in his own zone. Much more physical than advertised.

You win with this kind of defender in your group.
Indeed...And everyone has been wondering over the past few years who'll become our top 4 on D after Mo, Ed, and the much anticipated ASP...Well I firmly believe we got our guy in AlJo...

He is not bad , will be very good for our future third pair. What I don't understand is praising AJo and 💩 on Hronek

Outside of ASP (who has yet to play in N.America) who would you consider a better top 4 option than AlJo?

Ed and AlJo make a fine 2nd pairing right now - maybe the best 2nd pairing we've seen since Kronwall/Stuart paired together?

As for Hronek - yeah I really didn't see that trade coming - outta the blue since he would've been that top 4 guy on this club as I type this.

Anton could be or Buium,we will see. I hope the best for all them, some of them will be traded, some stop progress , but realistically , ASP and Edvinsson on the second pair, don't expect Albert play with Seider.

While what you posted is quite possible - I'd hate to see a D pairing 'altered' when considering how well they're playing together right now...Guess we'll see in a few years.
