If you're inclined to give Cronin some credit for something, look no further than the team's penalty discipline. It's regressed somewhat throughout the year, but the Ducks are basically league average now on power plays against. Last year, they were 34% worse than league average (which was by far the worst in the league).

im definitely one of the more outspoken people about him, and it's mostly comes from the not seeing him progress as much as I would like to see.

On the flip side, if he is playing well and winning. Then he should have a positive mindset and outlook, and hopefully that bodes well for his future as a Duck. He looks really pumped whenever he is on the ice and someone scores, regardless if he has been awarded a point on the goal. I think he is a really positive influence on the bench too, noticed him chatting to Leo & Killorn a lot, which is super important for Leo imo. It has rubbed off on Killorn too, because in one of the games where he was suspended I noticed Killorn chatting to Leo on the bench, which I hadn't noticed before. Honestly think Zegras would be a great captain down the road tbh.

Fair, but you could say that about all of the young players except LaCombe. Zegras is in the same boat if not to a more extreme degree of lack of progress IMO.

I think what it mostly boils down to is you prefer Zegras’ play style more

There’s no statistic evidence that shows Zegras has improved more than McTavish has, if anything it’s the opposite. And I would say Zegras has overall played with better linemates too

fair, and yes I do prefer Zergra's play style more. there's also the fact that Z was able to put up 60+ point seasons in his first two full seasons and he has the excuse of being injured so much which will stall anyone's development.

I mean I haven't noticed lately but I was vocally critical of him earlier in the year and I don't think it was entirely undeserved. Hasty to speculate on his hockey IQ but I don't think anyone hated him. Just wanted to see more from him after his play last year.
